Hello every one i saw this on the interwebs and im thinking about doing something like the only thing is i dont know that much about solar panels im not looking to power it off them but maybe extend my ride tome by 20 or 30 min i have a 48 volt system made from 6v 36Ah batteries so im just wondering what volt and watt solar panel to get

I think your gonna need a lot of solar panels to do that much haha. A gain like that would be possible on a smaller motor and system as the panels could provide a net gain that is actually measurable. Assuming you could drive for an hour currently, and you had one decent sized panel, probably around 120w, then over that hour you could gain an additional 120w of power theoretically.

On a 1000w system you will gain around 10 minutes or so. Now that panel is probably a bit big for just a spoiler on the back, so you would make a laydown kart with a panel roof like they do on the endurance racers.....then you would have maybe 30 mins extra run time roughly.

The only problem is that your kart is likely more powerful than that and will consume much more than that.
