Soap Box Derby

I am really considering getting my 10 year old daughter in to this sport. It looks fun and expensive Lol. I just attended a meeting in my community for this and got a lot of info.

I was just looking for any comments, advice, or thoughts on this subject.

I always wanted to get into that.....you are lucky to have it where you are....it's dead here.....(far as I know).....and it's a sickening sight to me to see an abandoned track.....taken over by the ravages of 20 years time......

Ya, those were kind of my thoughts too. I never did it as a kid and grew up in South Florida, where it is all flat lands.

We will be looking for sponsors too. I found one at a local Dr's office. Lol my father in law .

For fun? Definitely. Probably not for competition though. Unless I'm horribly mistaken about the sport, I imagine that winners are 99% determined by car design/cost.

Never had that around when I was a kid. I figured, when we moved to Missouri, that they just HAD to have soap box derbys, cuz its hill Country..... Well, NOPE.....
If its gonna be expensive, with no type of return other than your daughters thrill and memories,..... I say go for it.... If it doesn't take from the table, or the household budget, then it's worth the smiles and laughter. I'd give my legs to a child, if they would be able to use them.... They are only kids once. Give them what you can,now..... You learn more of life's lessons that way.....
