A good friend just gave me this to play with. He still had my dyno that I left with him when I moved to Florida, so it looks like I’m going racing again.

I have some pretty cool friends. I helped him get his nitro tuneup right for his S/A kart, and he didn’t forget about that when I called and said I was looking for another kart.

Took a little trip today and picked up a complete badmax with a Hemi predator and a banshee in parts. I think I’m laying claim to the badmax and I’ll get the GF’s kids racing with the other two. I should be picking my dyno up next weekend and I have some parts ordered for the clone I already have. Should be some progress pretty soon on all of this, and some subtracting going on with my bank account, lol.

The first thing that I thought when I read that you got a banshee was, Where did you get it and how much for it? I've been looking for a banshee lately to ride around, But then I realized that you were talking about the go kart, not the Yamaha.

Got the banshee pretty well reassembled. I’m building this one for the gf’s youngest son so I’ll have to relocate the pedals, but it’s a pretty sound little unit overall.
I will say that I really believe that you should have to pass a test before being allowed to buy a welder.

I used to have a built banshee 4 wheeler, it was one of my favorite toys ever.

Got the parts in for the clone and assembled it. I did a few things that would be called “experimental” at best. Probably heavy on the mental, lol. We’ll see if it works and stays together.
It snowed here and the roads were slick so I didn’t get to go get my dyno, but will soon now that I need to tune this clone. I’ll fire it tomorrow.

*edit* the pill bottle was on there when I got it, not sure what that’s all about.

That pill bottle is just being used as an oil catcher. That pipe is for your "oil overflow"

Welp, looks like I achieved full free runner status. I de tensioned the oil rings trying to reduce drag, and this thing smokes like a BBQ grill. I guess I’ll tear it back down and fix it. The good news is that my valvetrain mods seem to be working out.

Got the smoking issue fixed, I also made a new floor pan and mounted everything up on the Banshee. It’s looking pretty good for a 9 year olds ride. Probably one or two more evenings and it’ll be ready to rip.

It is, I’m going to fit him to it this weekend, which will involve shortening the steering column and moving the pedals. I got the green light from the GF for her son to race (oldest don’t want to race, just play) and I want it to be taylor fitted to him so that he’s comfortable when he’s driving.

That’ll be the next challenge, the GF has a one car garage that I’m pretty sure she ain’t giving up for go kart storage. There may be a storage shed in my future. I’m keeping them all at work now, but it’s cutting in on my work space so it can’t stay like that too long.

Get the new axle and parts put on #3, picking up a predator tomorrow for it and ordering a few more things online. Hopefully wishing a couple of weeks I’ll have 3 running go karts.

Went and got my dyno today so I’ll be playing with the new predator pretty soon to determine where the timing needs to be set on cheap gas to make the best power. My plan is to do the governor mod and advance the timing two degrees at a time to see where it makes the most power.
