I've been using PB for years to up and download pics to this site and others.
Photobucket has just firebombed the entire internet.
There will be zillions of how to's, DIY's, blogs, and chatboards destroyed by this greedy maneuver.

People will be fleeing in droves. Not many average people are going to pay $400 a year just to host photos there.
Some of my pics go back almost 15 years!!!!

No one has the time, money, or maybe even the bandwidth to download all their stuff, and re-upload it somewhere else.
This action by PB should be treated as criminal!

PB can bite my shiny metal azz!

At first I used the albums on here to hold pics which was convenient, but they maxed out so I went to PB.
Now what to do?

The threads here on DIY can and still hold the images one wishes to post...or is there a way in which to max that out too?

I've got an account there on PB but only use it like...like not any longer.

And that^^^ is why I question the validity of using off-site photo hosting on a site like this that doesn't need it.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Thanks for the confirmation.

The problem with off site hosting, is that when the person who posted links to his pics here on this site closes his off site account, his pics here dissapear and the thread is useless. That is why we always ask people to rather upload their pics to this server so that people can enjoy the info in the threads forever.

Just imagine what all the threads would look like if all the pics dissapeared. Crappy....thats what they would look like!!!

Well sadly I'm glad I'm not the only one... Hopefully I'll have time to upload my thread... I know many people/builders like my thread... I might have paid for $50 a year.... But if its that kind of money...efff that.

All my pics still reside on multiple hard drives, thumb drives, computers, and DVD's, but I'll be danmed if I'm gonna take the time and bandwidth (which has a cap) to go through all my posts here and everywhere else and upload them again.

I really hope there is a lawsuit filed against this Shkreli guy and he's forced to put PB back to how it was.

I aswell have my pics on my HD, it'll save me alot of searching to manually find them...

Alas.... I aswell have fallen victim...it's down now.... Nice no warning at all...

I shall endeavour to correct this ASAP.

It kinda begs the question, did they get hacked and someone is scamming them and their service?

No. As I'm hearing, this guy named Shkreli bought photo bucket and did this.
You might not remember him, but there was a certain pill that was developed, and many people came to rely on it. I can't remember what it was, but it was very important for a number of people.

He bought the rights, or maybe the company itself, and raised the price something like 7000%.

I'm just old school I guess, I still believe in ethics, morals, and honesty.

If they had said: All currently posted pics will still be visible, but from here on out, the service must be paid for, I'd be just fine with that.

But if it was a paid service to begin with, I probably never would have used them.

A website I hated the last IDK ten years or so got even worse...
well :lolgoku: what can I say??

shirt happens, :D:D

Good news (for me) less photo-puke-it images are going to annoy me in the near future..
So this message has a pro for me at least :D

'sid

PS No, honestly, I feel sorry for your inconveniance .. I do;
but the updated Terms have been made public a few weeks ago,
and it being a commercial website..
one should expect some inconveniences if you do not pay for their service.
Still a crappy move made by PB... but you have been warned. ;)

Even visiting Photopukeit makes my otherwise fine but aged computer slow down. It's like malware.

I know there's more alternatives out there to PB, what are they?

About 6 months ago I noticed their mobile app went to absolute crap. They basically isolated it from any existing albums in your account, and you had to use the mobile website to access upload or share anything from your old bucket. Now this.

Photobucket probably just lost 75+% of their users by doing this. I have stuff going back near a decade on there. Fortunately most of the stuff I was using it for was posted on a forum that recently bit the dust.

At least they're not holding your content hostage... YOU can still access your stuff without paying.

No wonder why threads have been messy lately on here and multiple sites. Fortunately with my new phone I can add a micro SD card (have a 32GB in now) and can save many pics on it. It is frustrating looking at threads on here where the op decided to use photobucket instead of just doing an upload on here. Reading through builds is one thing, actually seeing it is way nicer.

PB can rot for all I care. People abandoning their accounts on there has made many threads worthless. It's pretty simple to upload on here, especially with tapatalk...which just got updated again...so annoying.
