7:15 PM local (EST, US) 19*F (~-7*C?). While I really am not a fan of cold weather and snow (and ice, and....), I can always put another layer of clothing on; take to many off, and you can't legally leave the house....:surrender:

Pat  :cheers2:

Friday night finally some relief ! a cold front has blown in and it's now about 25'c with a cool breeze - BEAUTIFUL, what a week every day + 40' c & Night 30'c = bad week, one of our old dogs died in the heat and the other was touch and go, still not 100%. We ran our Aircon for 4 days straight 24 hrs a day ! I'm not looking forward to that power bill : (

just to point out to everyone

Adelaide was the hottest city in the world yesterday
at 46*c (115*f)
and they have had a week of above 40*c

were not doing too bad over in perth
only 30s
but we have alot of fires
50 homes lost in the parkerville fires

one small one a few km from my place only a few km square
was fast moving but in farm land and there's good fire risk management round here
took out an orange orchard

over in Victoria theres a massive bush fires
that one has turned pyrocumulonimbus ( word of the day)

so it has made its own weather system
and is now dropping lighting everywhere

18*/19*F again tonight; I still stand by my previous post.

:surrender: :iagree:

I can totally sympathise; what lets me survive such bills is the fact that building codes in my part of the world know we see extremes like the upper 30's* C down to the lower -30's* C, and my home is insulated to exceed those extremes. My LPG bill to heat in the winter is loosely similar to my electric bill for AC in the highs of summer.... (Not counting what happens when I break out the 300 amp stick welder....)

I've got family that used to live in California; I don't know if the fires there today match yours, but I wouldn't wish them on anyone. The scary part is that we've had droughts here in the middle of the Great Lakes; you know, the largest bodies of fresh water on the planet....:surrender::surrender:

Am I the only one disturbed by this?

In the Canberra bush fires of 2003 the same thing happened
But it created a fire tornado
And started hailing black ice

We had a dying cyclone pass over a big fire beer our farm

All the burning leaves got pushed into the clouds

Then it rained burnt sticks and leave in all out dams
Huge operation to clean it all up

Droughts will happen anywhere
It's all part of the cycle of things

The California fires are I similar landscapes to the Melbourne fires
Bit they don't have anything like our weather
When trees are so dry by the time the fire gets close they just explode

But they have quite a bit more undergrowth in their Forrest
Then they also have a lot more equipment and a budget more like the whole Aussie defense
Just to fight fires
They have charge planes and thousands of trained fire
Meanwhile we have a few copters and a few volenteer teams from around the area
