I have a 5 horse Briggs from a snow blower and was wondering if I need to do anything to use it in the summer. Take off engine snow sheilds?
Really?Snowblower engines aren't designed to run in arm weather
Really?
How so?
that's what i'm wondering. Got pics of "shields" in question?Take off engine snow sheilds?
In several decades of being involved with small engines (hobby and business), this is the very first time I'm hearing about such issues. I submit that any problems you may have had were inherent in those particular engines to begin with... and had nothing to do with so called winter/summer built engines.Example: '79 Ariens w/a 8hp Tecumseh hated weather above 80*. '92 Ariens /w a 13hp hated anything over 80*. The MTD I have w/ a 13hp Briggs will run in summer time, but needs to be adjusted to compensate for the thinner air.
Air filter is a must. Carb SHOULD be adjusted to compensate for thinner air density. Oil... well just because it's a good habit to keep.
