installed smog pump after carb, everything stock on carb hooked up correctly cant get engine to idle, soon as you start it it goes into high rev idle with chock and without choke, newbie no clue

And being fixed displacement, it's most likely causing a runaway condition? Must be one heck of a smog pump; the sizes and type's mounted on small cars and light pickups generally don't have enough output to even keep a small engine running period. Total lack of displacement....

Ok, this is getting old &, quite frankly, I'm sick of it; there's ABSOLUTELY NO REASON for comments like this...
When new members join our forum, we want to encourage them, not discourage them...
Granted, we've seen some truly ridiculous ideas lately which, purely for safety reasons, should be discouraged, the idea, not the person with the bad idea; making comments like those above are attacking the user, not their ideas; everyone, go read the rules; #1 is BE RESPECTFUL, I don't see much of that here...
There's an old saying: "You catch more fly's with honey than you do with vinager..."
Now, as you two have clearly broken the rules, give me one good reason why I shouldn't ban you both...

I can think of a few members off the top of my head who were temp banned within days of joining for similar actions who then went on to be half decent members (I'm sure you can too, Doug...)

That's very true....and...I wasn't trying to be a smart aleck with that first post...(and I don't think ML Toys was either)....we really didn't have a clue as to what the guy was talking about...(and it didn't even seem logical to me).
And I don't see where in either of those posts we were abusive or attacked the OP. I do however, see he quickly came back with an attitude towards this forum.
Oh.....we could always be more proper....and carefully craft every word so we wouldn't offend anyone.......ummmmmm.....no...we can't, on second thought....some folks are just going to chose to be contrary and take exception to factual advice.....no matter how respectfully it's delivered.

Neither did I, it's all in the delivery...
Even after his second post, I still tried to be positive & helpful...
I still remember being told to go
myself for politely pointing out the rules to a new member some time ago, that happens from time to time, even without negative encouragement...I get that, we can't help everyone, some people are simply better than us
those are the ones we ban or ignore & hope they go away but, we can't let those bad apples spoil the whole bunch...Lately, this type of treatment has been across the board with absolutely no bias, just about every new member is treated badly withing their first few posts & it NEEDS to stop!
I've said it before & I'll say it again, we were all newbs once; would any of us be who we are today if others had treated us like this from the get go?
I agree that the last while noobs have been treated badly. I love this forum and I hate seeing it go this way. Us mods are going to start dishing out some harsh punishment from now on if we see this continue
