Sliding sprocket

Okay, was installing the new engine and torque converter and noticed that the sprocket attached to the axle has a lot of free play. I assume this is not normal and I've attached some pictures. Can't figure out how to post the video as it keeps saying it's too large even though it's just a few seconds long. Am I missing a part or is this some weird stuff that it's supposed to do?

I had to put videos on you tube and post a link. Thats the olny way it works as far as l know. I can't tell by yer pics, but sumpthin does'nt look right. What is slipping and in what direction?

The sprocket on the axle slides from left to right

Ok, l see its loose! Good luck with that!

kidding....
choices in order of difficulty:
1. find, fix, or replace the set screw in the hub. Or install collars.
2. drill and tap hub for 2 set screws.
3. drill hub and axle all the way through and install a hardened dowell pin.

something was there to secure the hub to the shaft, and either broke and/or fell off.
that appears to be a hex shaft so it cant spin on the shaft.
should be an easy fix.
'course i ain't the one doing the fixin.

The hub that the sprocket bolts to has a set screw that locks it in place. In your 2nd picture it looks like you can see the hole. It is threaded. I own a Manco kart with the same hexagon rear axle. The sprocket MUST NOT move side to side.
I don't know the thread size, but the screw uses a 1/4" allen wrench. So it is not metric. If the threads in yours are shot, or the set screw rusted beyond moving, it would not be hard to rotate the axle, hub and all, and drill and tap a new hole. You need to get it locked down.

Jeez, I need new glasses. I did not see that when looking originally.

I have a bunch of allen bolts thanks to my mopeds and other bikes that I should be able to find to use. Will keep y'all updated. Hopefully the old one just shook loose. I have always had issues drilling new holes (setting myself up for various jokes there).

Okay, finally got around to dealing with this sprocket this past weekend AND the screw was just lose. I gotta go by the hardware store and grab some thread locker though. Thought I had some but at some point the last bit I had got knocked over and smushed. Now part of my bench looks like a Smurf was melted there. Figured it'd be best to pull it out and clean it then put it back in with some thread locker to reduce the chance of it vibrating lose again.

Appreciate y'all's help again on this one.
