I am new at go karts with my first being a trailmaster xrx150. I have been looking into changing the rollers in the variator to sliders and replacing clutch spring. Question is,,,,Is it worth doing this? Will it help with take off? Or am I just wasting money and should keep the original setup? If anyone has any info on this please help. Would love to have better take off, but really if its not very noticeable then I will leave it like it is. And if any knows the best brands and type needed it would be a great help also! Thanks everyone!!!

We just had that questionable couple weeks ago. I think the answer was to go with 11 (???!!!) gram sliders because it was actually better than 13gram rollers, on the low end and top end.... BUT I don't know....
Try searching "sliders" on our forum. You are only gonna get so many hits for it.....

I use 12g sliders those are about equal to 10g rollers on low end. and equal to 14g rollers on top end. Sliders give you about a 2g difference on both ends.
You can go down to 11g sliders without losing top end. Here is a vid I found a while back that lets you see the difference.
The best bang for your buck would be a cam upgrade. Cheap and easy to do.

You will have a more noticeable take off, but if you want even more you can use a 1500 torque spring which keeps you in a lower gear longer. You can do the 3 clutch springs also 1500 which lets your clutch engage at a higher rpm for a more powerful take off.

FYI do one mod at time if you want. and find a flat area and a sloped area and use those spots as your baseline. That way you can record times with accurate distances to not only feel t he difference but see it in numbers.
