As my over active mind has it. I've put a few projects on hold while I get correct material or extra funds for other ventures... but as I look out my window at another weak winter I want to turn my sled into a kart, quad. Not sure what to call it, but figure with a 4 tire Count it belongs here better then mini bike section. Enjoy the pic of what i Hope to create..
... When I get home I will also upload the actual sled I'm starting with... has anyone done this or have any words of advice I may need? Thanks. In case anyone cares. I will probably be using a 440 arctic cat... or another sled I can scrap that is air cooled... not really wanting to mess with my cooling setups.

Unless you have two sleds, why not try to build it so it can be swapped from a 4 wheel machine back to a sled with minimal time & effort, that way, you have the best of both worlds, sled for winter & a kart for summer :D

Old race karts are dime a dozen down south.. but up here in Alaska is like finding uni-corn poo.. so hard... but the easy swap idea is for sure a possibility. From what I see dropping track an adding wheels to front will be easy. I plan on running a chain from my belt. Just have to mount some bearings, and suggestions for tires? The ones in pic seem like they could be a bit bigger.

Find some modified spindles for the front to put wheels on.
Pick up a new drive shaft and put a sprocket on it.
Use the skid mounting holes to attach your wheels.

Doing all this would let you swap back and forth between kart and sled. That said pulling the engine and clutches to build an actual cart would be a lot of fun as well.

Second one is cool. First one is just a huge problem, the track and skid would just fall apart.

Be fun to try the second one one but i would over due it on my Dragon SP 800. Can spin the track doing 30m/h let alone on some tiny tires.

I think i'll stick to building my off road kart with my old 340.

If anyone can find me some old racing karts I'm sure I can find some sled motors. If anyone would like to try an swap extra weight around the garage.

More like no tracks....Besides the bumper car types.
Yea shipping is generally outrageous. Land or ground rates don't always stay true. As most places ship via air to where I'm at.

I like it in Soldotna. Spent a few weeks fishing off of funny river road for reds. Look forward to going back someday. My uncles friend owns Bear Creek winery in Homer.

I didn't look at your location, I'm sure there aren't too many go kart tracks up there. Is shipping ridiculous due to have to cross canadia?

Just find one of the million or so people moving that way and it will be a little cheaper. Hahaha. Sorry had to say it. Lol
