Hey,
I was just looking at some of the older fox minibikes that had rear suspension, and I noticed that the engines were mounted slanting forwards. Does anyone know what exactly the purpose of doing this was?

Most likely just for clearance. It looks like the air filter would be hitting the frame without an angle mount

It was all for style. they could have just as easily made it level since they were building the bikes from scratch. Its not like they were modifying the frames from a different engine design

Upon further thinking I think it might also be the way they wanted to do the chain as, if you look, the drive sprocket goes down to another sprocket which goes over to the other side and then to the wheel. I suppose the way it's designed acts as a chain guard and, I suppose would make it able to work with different kinds of engines; you could mount anything on there and the swing arm and sprocket would still line up.

Thats just like 225 Hemi, they are slant, so that they could have a sleeker design.

Jeremy.

Are you referring to the Mopar slant-6? I wasnt aware those were hemi. Those were slanted sideways to allow for a lower hood height. The slant also allowed the intake manifold to be a nearly equal length for all cylinders. Nicknamed the "leaning tower of power", among other things.

Heres mine:
