Ok guys, I need some help trying to figure out how to remove what I believe is called the "driven" portion of a Comet 30 on a Ken-Bar SK959.
I'm going to try to post pictures to help explain. In case that doesn't work, or if the pics are not clear enough, here is the dilemma...
I need to adjust the green spring that is currently in the driven. It is in the #3 adjustment hole, and based on the terrain, I'd like to adjust it to either #2 or #1. I've removed the 1" nut that secures the driven to the shaft, but the frame on this cart will not allow the unit to be removed. The only other alternative I can see is to move the shaft to the right (if looking at the set up from behind the kart). The other end of this shaft has a small sprocket that drives the large sprocket on the live axle via a chain. There are also some spring loaded tensioned to help keep the slack out of the chain.
There is a 1" bolt face on the sprocket end. I have tried without success to turn it, and I'm afraid I'm going to destroy something if I get too determined on moving it. I can't locate any online sources for a build sheet or shop manual for the 959. I'm hoping someone here has one and knows a magic way to remove the driven without having to marry a genie.
As an alternative, I do think there is room to remove the c-clip and reset the spring while on the machine, but I can't find anyone who has done that either.
