This little kart was a freebie...and came with a vintage 3.0 hp Briggs motor.

I'm curious as to what kind of kart this is...it has no markings that I can find. No rails.... The hubs have ale mite grease fittings and are not painted steel. The rims look almost like aluminum, silvery, never painted...yet they've rusted.

The seat is adjustable. The steering wheels looked to have chrome spokes and very deep. Tires are all 5".

The brake system is the typical friction band...but it doesn't have a steel rod actuator. It currently has a cable rigged to it. This will have to be figured out. Were there yard karts made with cable actuated brakes?

Also, I swear the #23 sticker on each side seams stock and part of the original kart....but I could be wrong.

Thanks J for your reply! Yep, the karts are like two long lost brothers. Did you modify the brake rod or add that from scratch? I have nothing, and need to figure out what to do for brakes. Did you do the bending yourself? If so, would you mind sharing the technique?

Thanks again...Cheers!

I modified your post to get rid of all the large images. They are now clickable thumbnails. Please use the "Manage Attachments" option where you can upload your photos from a URL

I made the brake rod myself. The technique was easy: 1/4" rod clamped in a bench vice, hand bent to fit.

If you need any close up pics of anything, let me know.

...and in the off chance you want to sell it, I'd be interested. I'd love to build a twin.

After extensive searching, these karts (IMHO) are most likely Klipper or Pathwinders. Those have the single post steering support and come from the factory with a number on the side plate. Have yet to find a single seater like our karts...I'll continue to poke around. Made in Illinois I believe...

Thanks for your help! Sell it? Hmmmm. Let me think about it. I've got the Manco Dingo, the Thunder Kart, the Shaller Single, a Murray Nitrox...and now this little single. I've ran out of room, so anything's possible!

Thanks again for your help!

Yeah, that's an exact match alright.

One of the guys over on the Vintage Karts site said it was a Ken-Bar Streaker. Google image search pulled up a lot of similar frame designs, but nothing exact. Thought perhaps it was due to minor design changes over the years, but I wasn't 100% convinced.

Did a GIS on Carter Super Wheels and saw lots of examples (both single and two-seat) of the exact same frame design.

I'd say case closed on this one.

...and seriously, if you want to get rid of it, let me know. I'd love to build a twin.
