well i thought i should post my project up, i started it about 4 years ago lol but new projects keep on coming up(3 cars, a motorbike and several engines) basically its one of those little 2 seater 50cc chinese go karts that i got for cheap coz it had a blown motor, im extending it about 80cm(31.5") and making new supension arms and a new rear swing arm with a wider axle and bigger wheels for it. Its going to be powered by a tuned victa 2 stroke engine(or 2 if performance is unsatisfactory) running through an old car gearbox giving me 4 forward speeds and reverse. The buggy will most likely see a fiar bit of utility work and may get a tray on the back aswell as body panels/a roof and a wind screen for winter.

heres it basically as it is now

basically my aims are to have a fun vehicle that can tow a 500kg(1100 pound) trailer, can go sideways at ease, can do at least 80km/h(50 miles) and can go through about 8" of mud with out getting bogged(its not uncommon to have mud up to the top of the mud guards on the quads in winter), if i ever finnish it that is lol

That sounds a bit ambitious with that frame.....
I agree :)
The 1100 pound trailer is realistic, I have a 38HP (Yamaha 400cc motorcycle engine, 6 gears) kart, and I can tow 500kgs for sure...
And I can ride 100mph, so the sprocket ratio is quite big, but still.

But I think that 8" mud is a bit too ambitious

the frame is all 3mm thick steel tubing so it will be strong enough(i hope), its gona have new suspension arms so its gona be alot wider and have a lot more ground clearance, its only got like 4" now. I know the mud thing sounds a bit ambitious but I dont really have much choice, it is really that bad here in winter. I'l keep you apdated, i doubt anything will happen with it for ages though, my current project is tuning a mini that was given to me into a convertible so yeah, this buggy is a very long term project.

yeah im hoping th clutch will be okay, im thinking il adapt a motor bike clutch to it some how, i dont like auto clutches. It will be geared real low with a 4 or maybe 5 speed gearbox, i expect 50 m/h will be the absolute top speed with th engines screaming at 7000rpm. The engines will be 2 160cc victa 2 strokes with expansion pipes and yamaha dt175 carbys, il be porting them and shaving the heads aswel, im hoping for about 10hp each engine(they had about 5hp at 4000rpm from the factory with plastic carbys so i dont think its to unreasonable)
