Well I took back my band saw from HF today. After all the trouble I had getting the blade to run true, a day later the drive system seized. I just got my money back and plan on ordering one of these later today! Cant wait to get it!

I called about the saw. Will the blade that comes with the saw might get 200 cuts on steel with it.

The replacement blade, with shipping is around $75. He says with 1 to 1.250 inch tubing can maybe get 600 cuts out of it.

These saws are nothing special, it is the blade, and even the blade is just a single direction spinning blade from what I can tell. I am going to do some more looking around. As bad as I want some NICE cuts I want to make sure I get something that lasts.

Are you talking about the HF blades? Find the circumference needed then google search for some blades. With some research, you will find the best brands at good prices.

hey, for those of you that have benders, could anyone please post up some close up pics of the pipes after being bent?

I looked pretty intensly a couple days back into the benders, watched loads of youtube vids etc etc...

what i couldnt find was close ups of the pipe to see how it comes out in the end..

at work we have a monster of a bender, for doing exhaust, but of course its a crush type..

the other thing i was thinking was building a kat outta exhaust tubing.. we ge it in 7ft lengths at work for cheap. would be fine for little engine karts.. dont know about sled/boke engine ones tho..

its pretty solid/ decent wall pipe though and would prolly be fine..

I was thinkin a 3" tube frame would be kewl.. hehe.. and it would still be pretty light.. :D

Thanks all!

one more question thats been bugging me...

where the heck do all you guys get those fancy red/black seats for your karts???

lol.. i havent seen em anywhere that i can find..

I even d-loaded the 2 sets of FREE plans from spider kart, thinking it might be linked in them.. but nope... lol

so if the die and bender wont be there till next week.. does that mean we have to wait at least that long to see any progess/project pickies..??? *POUT*

I know it has been a while since I have made any progress. This weekend was totally free to me and I took advantage of it. Here is what I have done so far and here are some pics of the tubing bender I built and pics of the bends it does. The yellow kart is the one I built a year ago and it is the one being replaced. Enjoy and post back!! Thanks.

That made some really nice bends. Did you the plans from the link you posted to make it?

Nice work, that looks REALLY clean!

'm annoyed, i have a place down the road that was private land for atv riders, but a year before i built my kart, the town bought it, and i'm pretty sure there some environmental police around there, not to mention its not that big of a place. might just drive there a bit, and if i don't get yelled at i will consider building an off-road kart!

You may have some steering issues with your rack being wider than the suspension block, but other than that, I'm jealous of the kart. If only I didn't live on 1/4 acre...
