Should I grab this

Im new here and already have one cart that I will start working on with my 2 kids when school gets out in a week. It needs brakes and painting etc

Well I posted on craigslist for go kart frames and a guy responded that he has one and that it needed an engine. He asking $80 After a week he finally sends me pictures after 2 calls. I kind of was hopping he had something with a cage on it.

Not knowing much about frame values (my current project cost $25 non running at the time and needing brakes but I w).. would I be insulting him if I offered him $40 or $50 for it ?

Now i am no expert but i would jump on it, tires what looks like a jack shaft. I would have that thing up and running in a weekend.

But the market is a little difrent here in Denver.

Sorry second post. The reason why i would get it would be for me, when i got my first kart is was just like that. Get that going and see how everything works and goes together and it will open the doors for how you can make exactly what you want down the road.

go for 50 bucks.

good thing is it has a driven part of a TC and a belt. thats probably worth the most. you just need to figure out what it is and get the driver.

Grab it, you got a good base, with some TLC and a engine and clutch you will be in business. If you can't fix it (highly unlikely) you can never have enough parts.

If you posted wanting a kart pay the $80. Thats a perfect kart for your kids. To me he has it priced to sale.

Remember you called him out. Do not offer to low. Say $70 or so when you get there. Do not make offers over the phone. Go look at it. I see one bent tie rod.

I don't think so, blue. I believe that is a simple pulley on a jackshaft- so a centrifugal clutch with a pulley instead of a sprocket is needed.

Or that pulley could be swapped out for a gear.

Beakersloco, i think its worth about $40 too. You posted the ad, I wouldnt worry about insulting him. Anyone that does an over-spray paint job like that deserves to be insulted. You'll have to sand/sandblast all that crap off there or his horrid paint job will end up lifting right and left.
