Should I build a few of these dynos?

For a complete unit, I would make the readout screens either in pop-up form, adjusting from flat to vertical or permanently fixed at a vertical, slightly tilted aspect.

Should make it easier to read, protect it from dropped tools and to prevent it from being another horizontal surface that collects dust and debris. I get danger vibes from the idea of hovering over the whole assembly to read the screen and so the current angle of the screen sort of defeats the plexiglass shield, in my opinion.

I've been getting some work done on the desktop application to go along with the dyno. Never mind the numbers, I am spinning a pencil with a magnet taped to it using my drill to get some rpm, and applying force to the load cell with my fingers. It's probably quite the show. I'll probably give this a ride with an engine later on today.

Ok, I have been so busy with the more important parts, building and shipping the orders I got already, and doing some R&D for the next model that I have not done much updating the interwebs of my progress. I have sent a few of these out now, and am finally basically caught up with the initial demand. They look way better all shiny and new than mine does.

I have done a bunch of work on the sofware as well, mostly to allow it to be more universal when folks are using just the electronics package for their own builds. You can select an RPM range up to 25,000, the number of magnets on the flywheel, and the drive ratio between the engine and shaft. You can also now use whatever weight you have kicking around for calibration and enter that weight on the calibration screen. That is a lot simpler and more accurate than finding the closest thing to 20 pounds you can. EGT and AFR are now optional for even more advanced tuning capabilities.

I stopped 3D printing the screen cases myself. Some local kid started a 3D print shop here in town last year. I stopped in and gave him a chance when my printer was down. His finished product is much nicer than mine, I will stick to using my printer for prototyping. As soon as I get the next batch from him the electronics orders I have will go out, hopefully this Saturday. Before too long I expect maybe someone other than me can tell you about their experience with it, what they like, what they don't.
