Found someone giving away a 1982 Suzuki GS250 engine on FreeCycle! I don't know anything about it other than it looks like it came off of a bike. The guy says it runs and has all the electronics. Anybody know if this would be worth picking up for a project?

Apparently, some quick information reveals that it's a 4 Cyl with a 6 speed transmission!

Hey, I don't find these deals all the time! It's super RARE that I come across one, I just happened to see it, but it's not a guarantee that I'll be able to get it. :arf:

I emailed the guy to see if he still has it, I haven't received a response yet.

Does it have the carbs and pipes? those will be a few major things that will cost you some $$$.It would be a good add on for your cart :biggrin5:

Well, the guy said in the description that it's running and that he was gonna use it for a buggy, but he lost interest and now wants it out of his garage.

Well you cant get a better price than free so i would pick it up, even if your not going to use it you can sell it for a pretty penny...

Well, it's kinda out of the way. I'd have to drive 30-40 minutes to get to it. Gas prices aren't exactly all that friendly just to go pick up something that may not be worth it. If it was here in town, I wouldn't even bother to ask if it was worth it. I was wanting to know if anyone knew anything about it. I haven't heard anything bad so far, but I haven't gotten a response from the person that posted it up yet either. If I can get it, I'll post some pics.

Oh man! I just got a text message from one of my friends saying that there's a jet ski in the trash behind one of my other friends apartment! I asked if the engine was still there and he said he thinks so. They're not very mechanically inclined so they wouldn't know the difference. I'm gonna go check it out after work! :drool5:

Craigslist and freecycle both kick booty!

Still haven't gotten a response about the GS250.... :(

I shot off another email with phone number this time with hopes of a response. :idea2:

This is what happens when ya hesitate. Your question should be, "I got a GS250 motorcycle engine for FREE!, should I make a crazy cart or sell it for pure profit?"
