Should comet 40 belt sit straight?

I am tweaking my yard kart and I was looking at the comet 40 TC belt and it sits at a slight angle between the driver and driven, when I looked online it looks like the belt should be running perfectly straight? I bought a new belt and have already got some fraying at the edges and I was wondering if this angle might be the cause. It is a symmetrical torque converter system.

try removing the spacer or getting a smaller one. (behind the driver)

actually since its symmetrical... the belt will be straight in overdrive. hmm.

I have a small amount of room I can move the driver due to a chain running below, I will grind down the spacer as much as I can and maybe add a washer/spacer to the driven? I didnt think it looked right after much standing and staring ....

meaning when the driven has the belt in the lowest part of it, and the highest part of the driver, it should be then straight or even twisted the other way.

You have a tav2 asymmetrical belt (i think). That will be part of the cause of the fraying.
Edit: is the yellow spring the reverse spring? If not then your drivens the wrong way round, bit I am pretty sure the yellows are reverse wound.

Nope that is a 40 series, and yes the belt should be as straight as possible or you'll eat of $40 belts with a quickness.

Yes I know, i own one myself.
If it symmetrical- what is the need for "this side to engine" printed on the belt? Surely the belt could be mounted either way round? That is what led me to believing it is a 30 series or tav2 belt with asymmetrical faces.

I have my 40 series setup so the belt is right in the centre of the two pullies. Still on belt no.1 after plenty of abuse.

Your belt is a 40 series. I still do not understand the need for "this side to engine".
Allign your pullies with washers and spacers and you should be ok. Also double check centre distances whilst you are at it.

#2- 203785 is a symmetrical, series-40 compatible belt. I have absolutely no idea why it is marked "this side to engine". Must have been a manufacturing defect. If it's new, it's probably because the new factory hasn't worked all the bugs out yet.
