In most cases, I have the parts in hand, and at home from the post office box well before I get a delivered notice from USPS.

I am currently awaiting the delivery of something very expensive from FEDEX.

The shipper says delivery by 4pm today.
The FEDEX website says delivered yesterday.
The lady at FEDEX says tomorrow.

I figure it's always best to just not use the trackers that the shippers give you to use.

Order several things at or near the same time so they'll be "in the chute". Let other things occupy your time, but again, don't watch any trackers.

Don't be like this guy:

I like to use GoPowerSports.com Fastest shipping ever!

Also helps if you do not intentionally live in the middle of nowhere!

Almost exactly a year ago, our 2015 build-off winner, Slidewayz, posted this; a few days later, they were in the mail... I STILL haven't received mine...

I perfectly know what you mean Joe..

Some drivers still use older computers that do not update shipping states over the air, so the data is updated once they're back in their docking station at best..
some are simply not put back correctly and the absolute worst:
Some drivers cheat if they need to fullfill a certain amount of deliveries per day.. so they themselves sign for a parcel and deliver it the next day (or don't) if they cannot seem to make it because of traffic or a mishap of some sort (accident, truck issue...)

So the online info is simply crap..
I was waiting for an update on the FedEx website for months (after the parcel was delivered)
just to see when they update... at one point the tracking number was just deleted and it never seen any update (other than the initial "left XYZ on ABC")
Other parcels have been marked as delivered to my door.. signed by ME!
that took another five days for the driver to show up with said item I signed for days before
(guess what.. I haven't! but I called DHL a day later how I could've signed for something I haven't received... I think him showing up was the result of internal investigation)

So yeah it needs an update, but frankly.. most of the time it works well enough for me.. it's just the bad occasions you seem to remember later on.

A friend of mine for example ordered a laptop one saturday evening; and the following Monday at 2 pm he received a notification that said laptop was successfully delivered.. and it indeed was waiting for him when he got back home. and the message was dispatched and updated online within ten minutes of the arrival.
Absolutely perfect... but something he'll certainly will not remember in a year or so ;)

(like counting red/green lights on your daily commute... you remember the red ones only;))

But truth is, the hardware should be upgraded where neccessary to make that experience as consistent as possible at least,
and IMHO those false info must be punished; I don't mind if my parcel takes a day longer to be delivered in most occasions a truck can have an issue, a driver might have gotten sick ... shirts happen.
Heck even a lost item isn't ruining my life (insured shipping assumed I don't care too much frankly)
But telling me I got something I did NOT..that makes me nervous!

Most of this is on me. It's my choice to live where I live, and it wasn't ever a problem receiving Pkgs at my place of business. A day here or there didn't matter so much.

I'm currently working with fedex to get them to my door. UPS said they will if my addy is listed with the post office, and it is. I just haven't had the opportunity to hold them to it yet.

The fedex guy tried, but missed the turn, and ended up going well out of the way, so he won't even try anymore. If I have a pkg, I can have it left at a biz in town, but that's still a 25 mi RT to pick it up.
So now, I at least have him meeting me partway on the dirt road.

But the real issue with him, is that he calls a little while before he gets close. He heads up the Mtn, and I head down. We end up meeting somewhere in the middle.

But if the shipper says Thursday, I have to wait by my computer for his call, which can happen anywhere between 1pm and 5.
So if they say thursday, and it's really friday, I waste a fair amount of time in two days waiting for a call.

No. There's no cell service at the house.

How'd you know I was waiting on a laptop? :D

That's how I have it to Joe. Except I'm 25 miles one way from town.
Has its pros but not with shipping.

We found a Schwann delivery guy out behind the mountain down some Creek. He gave us free ice cream for a escort back to the main road.
