Hi I recently picked up a shifter (Is this a shifter kart lol?) kart for $50. I also picked up a 420cc predator for it just need a few more parts to start working on it. My question is about the tire sizes I cant seem to find them anywhere. I have some pics to show and the sizes on them are 11x6.00-5 (front), and 7.5/11.5-5 (rear) http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=55048&stc=1&d=1419308769

If anyone knows where I can find these or if I can step down or up a size with the same rim I would really appreciate it. Oh yea also if anyone can id thatd be really helpful as well. I will take a look tomorrow for any numbers and such havent had a chance to yet. Thanks!

I have a set of rims the same as your front wheels, sitting on my shelf, wondering the samething...

Ive seen em on Amazon/Ebay, for sale afew times(just didnt 'jump' quick enough to get em). 5" rims, tires, are sorta hard to 'find' readily available. From what Ive seen/heard, 6" rims are the 'norm' of use, so more abundantly available/sold.

My suggestion would be fill out your profile, as best as possible, because someone here maybe able to help you, in/for your location... and see who else replies to this post in the next 24hrs. If by chance noone 'jumps' in w/ a solid place that sells those sized tires, then, I would Bing/Google those tire sizes and see what pops up (ei- right now Ebay has 11x6-5, 4pr slicks for $24.50. but may not ship to you if you live somewhere like Afghanistan or someplace).

... and a 'shifter kart' would indicate there were more than 1 gearing for the engines drivetrain...

Fronts are here for seemingly cheap.. 11x6.00- 5

They have slightly larger for rears but not exactly what you need..

Its a start..

You do not have a shifter kart. What you do have is pretty cool though, it is a 80's-90's twin engine sprint kart. Search YouTube for "C-Open Sprint Kart" to see how stupid fast those things are. Guy you got it from likely didn't know what he had. Front wheels are actually rears someone tossed on there, they should be around 4.5 x 5 with 2" backspacing. It will handle like $#!+ set up like that.

5" Wheels are standard for sprint karts, 6" wheels are used on LTO dirt karts for additional ground clearance.

IDK what that platform is over the rear axle & bumper, but it is not factory & I doubt the hoop the seat is resting on is either. You might want to also consider moving the motor to the other side where the clutch & chain would be outboard. That 420 is wider than the 212 & if the chain let go just right could cause a little pain.

Or just bail on the 420 & grab two 212's instead.

Yea the seat mount there was added on by someone at some point. I removed that rear engine mount and cleaned it up also got the brakes to free up. I was trying to figure if I could cut that shaft down a little for more room on the 420 that is.

I may buy the 2 212s idk yet when I get that far ill decide. I did see a twin 212 setup on youtube already. Anyone know the specs on the original engines on this setup? I saw some videos and they seem pretty fast with what they had. or possibly where to get the original engines? thanks again for your thoughts fellas.

Not sure which vid your speaking of... but on a norm the 2 engines are probably stock/factory. Ive seen some on there/here, that have modded the 2 engines as twins same mods done to both engines exactly. Nonetheless... when running 2 engines, equal specs are necessary, if not, one engine will work harder than the other and the 2x hp dont equate to 2x the hp.

Originally it came with a 2) 135CC 2-strokes. Much more compact/lighter motors putting out about 70HP each. They would have been built/dyno'd by the same builder and the only adjustment you would need to make was to sync the throttles so they were both producing the same power.

Here's an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oq2S1iK-Hbw

There is no comparison to the power of a 125CC shifter, the C-open has it hands down, but the shifter would be less expensive and easier to set up.

I would cut the loop off the spreader and just buy a few seat struts, it "might" cost a little more, but getting the seat mounted will be easier. and I bet in the long run it will be cheaper.
