well i finally convinced my dad to let me buy a shifter kart.:D:wai::wai::biggrin5: so i found what i think to be a pretty good deal on craigslist for a kart. 700 bucks for it. its a "DINO" chassisfront and rear breaks, 1979 rm125 motor. full shifter linkage and clutch. but no side pods or front plastic bumper. i am goin to replace all the bolts/nuts with new ones becuase these seem a little rusty.
i have a new power plant for it... a 1991 cr125! dont like the bulky cooling fans from the rm125 and my arm always hits it!:censored:
so i brought it to the shop started to disassemble the whole kart. i wanted to wash off the dirt.

then i hit it with some primer to keep it from rusting over the next few weeks.

i sanded the axle a little bit with some sand paper i had laying around
now thats its all nice and clean i started to put some stuff back on.
i started to make a new floor out of a piece of aluminum my dad has here.
but... i have a question for you guys, seemed to stump me a little. the front hubs seem to be like stuck on spindle, even after i loosened the clamp on it. and the same thing with a bearings on the rear axle. i want to replace them but i cant even get them off. i loosened the set screw all the way and it wouldnt slide off, i tapped it a little with a rubber mallet and it didnt help at all... so what do you guyz recomend that i do to get them off?
thats all for tonight i will be there tomorrow to do more assembly.

okay got some more stuff done tonight...
sanded, primed and painted the tie rod and shifter rod red!
stripped the steering assembly
test fitted the new motor with seat clearance
now i just have to take the back axle and i can sand prime and paint it ! im thinking about doing a black frame, with red accents like the tie rods, shifter linkage, hubs, pedals, and maybe the seat mounts.
i also ordered and new radiator because the one i have now is a little bent up and is a horizontal radiator.
i plan on ordering a new pipe and silencer soon too.
i also added a pic of like 90% of the parts on my workbench.
thats all for tonight! will be finishing the painting tomorrow and start reassembling.:wai:

my advice, corner balance it with you in it. my weight was off left to right and i had barely any right turning and shredded 3 left front tires and had little to no wear on the right front.

Simple bathroom scales will do the trick
