hey guys, i want to build a shifter kart but i have a few questions.

first off can a shifter kart be built off any single seater frame or do i need a shifter kart specific frame?

also engine size. What would be the best type of engine?

thanks in advance

(i did do a search and didnt find anything about question one and found a little about question 2)

1. AFAIK you can make any engine work on any frame. just depends how much fab you want to do

That's the main reason most people use racing frames, they're designed & engineered with high speed capabilities built in...

Umm, no coz it doesn't have a gearbox, it would simply be a go kart.

The term "shifter" implies it has multiple gears which you need to "shift" through; a small motorbike engine is what you need, like an 80cc 2 stroke or 125cc 4 stroke
