For memory, you twin engines are GX140s correct? They have an output of around 4-5hp x 2 = 8-10hp & you want to replace them with an engine that puts out 18hp? DO THE MATH! :lolgoku:

The only problem you may run into is drive train; it has rear mounted engines, correct? With a dirtbike engine (or any bike engine for that matter) the chain must run back from the engine whereas, you need the chain to run down...

Unless they've been built up a bit, then your looking at roughly the same power, just one option has gears and the other doesn't.

i have seen it done on a race cart chassis and it looked good enough i started to attempt the same last year until i needed money and it was scrapped, it would be a good budget shifter cart, but you would need a new fuel tank and pump, one of the nice things about them is they have four threaded bosses on the bottom of the engine that would be more then strong enough to mount the engine with, i say do it if you have some skills to get it done,

The thing is that, unlike single geared karts, you can gear the final drive as high as you like*, you'll still have decent acceleration but, your top speed will be much higher plus the bike engine will rev higher than a gx160.

*A single speed kart needs to be geared around 5-6:1 which will give you around 30-40mph (depending on other variables). With a multi gear setup, you can gear at 3:1, have slightly better acceleration & more than double the top speed...

it will be fast, even if it had less hp then the two clones, the 4 or 5 speed transmission will add alot of speed, low end, and just out and out fun,
