Im rather new to the racing side of karting, but been doing alot of research, on the style of karts and trying to expand on how little i found out i knew lol. i would like to build a shifter kart from scratch, but not sure on the type of piping that would be best used, or easiest to use i guess, but would last well. also, would all the pipe bending i assume just go to a body shop or something to bend the pipes. any suggestions on how to go about starting the build? i have pictures of frames to go by, one actually has dimentions of someones kart. but guess im still unsure as to piping and how to get proper measurements...?

I would do a good search on the forum. These topics have been covered several times

some of the ideas and stuff i got actually from here, still looking up afew things, came across a "flash shifter" ? seemed like the go kart version of paddle shifters but was the NOS buttons on the steering wheel... would assume thats crazy hard to do but did make it look alot simpler than physically have to use a lever.

Check with any of the Dragbike supply shops . Most if not all Dragbike use a air shifter. All electronic shifters are going to be on the pricy side $700. Air shifters can put together through Grainger the one item you will need it a Shift Kill . I know there some kits for big street cruiser bikes << up shift down shift.

ok kool,, guess ima gonna look into both ways, pricing out some supplys today so i can get an idea of whats up. do many racing go kart tracks scrap karts that may be their or anything ? was thinknig that would be a cheap easy way to get a frame or basic start if cant get the proper piping at like home depot or something. for the shifter also was curious if its just a lever you make? i didnt see any when i was on afew different stores, less i was looking in the wrong place lol. i have a few materials around the house and form other projects ive done (deadmau5 heads, drift tikes that sort of thing) guess asking if the shfiter is a special peice your best of buying, or something simple as to just make custom yourself? (which would save afew bucks)

Any thing can be made/fab'd . The same for buying . It's how much time do you want to put in too it. What kind of karting a you looking to do? . Left right or only left turning only. Engines for those I never go small, because it will never be enough. 250cc or bigger MX engine water cooled. I picked up a CRF450 Honda with all Electric's and Carb for $600 . Run a 520 chain with chain tensioner Stock pipe is good . For manual shifting bend up shift arm to put shift knob right next to steering wheel. A used rolling frame is the way to go. Check at Bobs4cycle.com Gokart2000 Seventhgear.com

250cc or bigger? Fourtogo have you driven a 125 cc shifter cart... Incredibly fast for what it is

My Kart is powered by CRF450 it's a UAS Unlimited Open Class Dirt/Oval kart Ultramax off set . And for flying on two wheels, I ride a Top Gas 8:20 165-170mph index Dragbike << it will run in the high 7's when we want to run out of index for heads up racing. GSXR 1356 kit with a 150 shot of NOS . I can see a day that is coming when 2smokes will PC'd out this planet . Had a RD350 on the Kart the first go round. But at 80lb's for motor alone. The CRF Honda is 62-63lb's makes more power and a lot narrower.
