This would also mean a dirtbike trans and an atv trans (if you can find one that is separate from the engine. I haven't seen many but it's possible)

Also a big twin Harley will have a divorced transmission.

appreciate it guys .......got a good deal on a 2 seat yard cart and looking to make it just a tad faster. just need 1 more gear really but more would be cool .

We need some info first:
Rear tire size
Clutch or torque converter
What is the sprockets tooth count on the clutch/tc
What is the rear axle tooth count

As far as the 18hp motor from the ride on Im guessing thats a vertical shaft. It can be done, but itll be a pain in the rear.

You coukd just do a pully swap on the ride on to make that into a decently fast racing type mower, but without knowing what it is it could chew up the gearbox (trans)

4.10/3.50-4 tires seems to be 64t ( it,s dark outside ) sprocket w/14t cc

Are you sure on that because that gives a 4.5:1 ratio, which even with those small tires is really high. I'm kinda suprised your clutch hasn't crapped out...

could be closer to standard size ( RUNS GREAT) i,ll try to get some pics (only have phone for pics no comp.)..... remember is dark outside hard to count

Just wait until you have light and give a good count.

With a ratio that high (if it is) I can imagine your acceleration being crap lol. Top speed should see around 22-24mph.

You could get a tc instead of the cc, raise the tire diameter to around 15" and keep a high ratio like that, you would then see good accel, and a theoretical top speed of around 35 mph. With a tc you might even be able to give it a touch higher ratio like 4:1, but idk. That would depend on the engine, kart weigt, and rider weight.

drive sprocket is 12 tooth ..... axle sprocket still haven't got agood count . Be patient with me( i work a lot )

Also what about the Rupp 2 speeds I'm reading about ? Are they not kart kompatible (alliteration) lol

The take up space. On a kart that's not always easy as your elbow is sitting right next to the clutch.
On a minibike, it can typically have the room available, but thats rearward.
