shaft spacing comet #40

hey guys first post here. I'm very new to carts but not to anything involving fabing or wrenching.

any was a buddy and i are modify a manco magnum express we got on the cheap. the old robin is dusted, major blow buy and low power tell me its done (kids and plugged air filters). overhead, tune up, carb cleaning and flushing out the oil sludge produced a few more rev under load. anyways we got a free running honda gx390 from work (tech it smokes while running so it worn out, us when we get it home... it full of 2 stroke gas and runs prefect )

what i want to know is im looking at buying this to replace the comter 30 on the kart. because then we can reuse the 5/8 jack shaft and #40 sprockets that our on the cart. what i cant seem to find is any info on what the spacing between the center of the engines crankshaft and the center of jackshaft should be.

any help would be great.

I'd get a 40 series convertor off ebay for 1" shaft. Pictures help to guys here with all the knowledge. Needs to be spaced so that they line up with the belt square as far as I know. Mine came with washers and what not to get it on right.

As far as I understand your question..
there's nothing you can do but to wait until you have the kart and engine at home.
Since you'll have to measure the PTO jackshaft CtC distance

the only chance you have is hoping for someone with a magnum express and a gx270 or larger single cylinder to chime in; measuring his' to let you know.

beltsize then is determined by this and the driven pulley OD.

that the be backing plate the bolts to the block and has it own jack shaft? i dont want ot go that route because A) dont want to fab one or B) dont want to spend big money on a kit.

or maybe that was a joke? idk, confused.

Half joke half serious, that's how I roll
I literally moved my jackshaft sprocket and axel sprocket to other side of the mounting plate and kept my TC on the original side, my torque converter would hit the mounting plate so I used a spare spindle spacer. (I'm sorry, I can't send pics of this cuz I'm on a trip to oklahoma) (without my kart)

Half joke half serious, that's how I roll
I literally moved my jackshaft sprocket and axel sprocket to other side of the mounting plate and kept my TC on the original side, my torque converter would hit the mounting plate so I used a spare spindle spacer. (I'm sorry, I can't send pics of this cuz I'm on a trip to oklahoma) (without my kart)

i cant do much better every time i/m working on this kart i cant seem to take any pictures.
