I am new to the site and couldn't find an answer to my question so here goes. I just bought my son a used go-cart that is almost brand new. The kids that had it previosly rolled it and broke the crank. I want to just replace the motor but the motors that I have found have a different output shaft lenght. It has a comet tav2 asymmetrical torque converter on it, and the original shaft was 2.9" long. Can I use a little bit shorter shaft lenght? That seems to be all I can find. All the TC sites just say 3/4" shaft with no length. Any help would be appreciated.

the shorter shaft lenght should be fine, but you may just need to but a longer bolt to hold the tav on.
also why not replace the crank?
If you want a new clone, harbor freight has great deals! 6.5hp for $75!!!

That is exactly my plan! I was just not sure about the shaft lenght, because all I can find is a 2 1/2" shaft. Thanks for the help guys.
