Shaft bolt and drive wheel bolt keeps coming loose

Hello, new here. Have a couple issues with my first DIY kart project.

I have an old Murray frame that I put a HF predator 6.5 212cc engine on.

First issue is the shaft bolt keeps coming loose. I originally had it setup with a thick shaft collar on the inside which caused the clutch to overhang the shaft a bit. After I lost that bolt, I rearranged with a couple less thick washers on the inside, and now the clutch is flush with the end of the shaft. I have a small washer and a lock washer on the 3/4" bolt, but it comes loose. Seems like these should be reverse threaded, but it isn't. Anyone else have this issue, or know best way to address?

Also, the bolt on the live wheel keeps coming loose.

Use Nyloc nuts or thread locker (loctite)

I wouldnt use loctite. sometimes you just gotta torque them down good. with a lock washer there should be no reason for it to come loose unless it wasnt torque on well enough.

Thanks for the replies guys. I may have to go with the Loctite on the shaft bolt. It's hard to get good torque on it. How hard is it to remove that stuff if I need to change out a clutch?

On the live wheel spindle, I'm not sure I can find a nylon nut that big. If I remember correctly, they are 3/4", and TSC was the only local place I could find with them. Maybe could order something from Fastenal. Also, if I torque that one down too hard, it keeps the wheel from spinning freely. I'm thinking something might be wrong with that setup, but I don't know what. I'll try to get some pics this evening to post.

Try the blue Locktite first. Not the red.
Fastenal may have that nut. If not, just look locally for a nut & bolt supplier, or order it from McMaster. mcmaster.com
