Turn off the traction control, and you will go through rear tires faster than you can afford (they cost $212.00 a piece without mount and balance)!! Fast cat! --- and lots of fun, I promise!

Just took 2 pics...

In the garage for the winter now.

Can I use a car in the "family"? My gf's aunt has a souped up 09 charger manual v8 dyno'ed over 500 hp :).

And having driven a 850RWHP HSV 2009 holden auto, i can tell you they are just as fun as a manuel. lol But if its auto it has to be serious horsepower, where as any standard manuel car is normally fun.

No, stock cars only! JK!!! :roflol:

I am not disagreeing that manual cars are more FUN, I was just pointing out another reason to have an automatic other than having one arm or one leg.

I used to have a 1971 LT-1 Corvette. 350/330, 4 speed manual, convertible, 411 rear. That was a fun car. Wish I still had that one!
Also had a 1985 Corvette in 1985 (had the 84 in 84, but it was a lemon and they gave me an 85) that was the manual 4 speed with the 4+3 manual overdrive. New body style that nobody had seen before. That was a fun car, too!

1962 Plymouth Savoy. A whole 145hp!(mabe more since its bored) 0-60 in an amazing 8.8 seconds! 3 on the tree. The best part is, im restoring it for my great uncle, then its gonna be mine after high school! I cant really attest to how fun it is to drive, but im 100% sure it will be. My plan is to get it driving by christmas. It may not win for power, but it comes close in awesomeness.

Good question. I wanted to buy a 45 willys with a small block v8 and "3 in a tree" but mom shot it down cause a v8 slapped into a willys which isn't too safe over 45mph is just not the best idea. They were made to go everywhere, just not too fast.

Seems like a great place to learn to drive an automatic is in a go kart. If I had the money....

I always got the feeling that they couldn't do much over 45 and were toque-diculous in the first place.

Maybe, but if it was manual it would be 100 billion (not joking, actual measurement :roflol:) times more fun. As soon as I've finished my car I wouldn't mind having a bit of a race (175hp, maybe 200hp w/ nitrous). Betcha $100 mine's faster 0-100kph.

What's your car? A guess says it's based on the Lotus 7 and Catterham type vehicles? What ever it is it's got to be better than that VK you used to have! :roflol:

auto's with loud exhausts make me laugh so hard, they just sound terrible

Couldn't agree more, BWAAAAAAAAA-aaaaaaaaaar-aaarrrrr-orrrr. The sound of every P platers VR commodore driving down the road :roflol:

Most modern manuals can't be roll started because they can only be started in neutral.... Stupid hay....

Thanks

Hehe, well it started out as a Lotus 7 clone in my head, then sort of morphed into a mid-engined car with full fibreglass bodywork. I've got the chassis finished except for final welding and all the brackets... so probably 5% through the build, lol.
O man that VK was a P.O.S.

Hi. After much thought I decided I'll expose my ignorance on this forum.

I don't know how a manual transmission works.

Ok. Ok., I know that it has various gears that you shift into, and I know the higher gear, the less torque and more speed, yea a cave man would know that. What I don't know is how you can come to stop while in gear. What kind of clutch is there that takes off the engine while your stopped?
a centrifical clutch will disengage whille idleing plus when in gear

is that like a 3spd sludge'matic?

No. It's a full manual transmission, clutch and all, with a column-shift instead of on the floor. Neat to drive. Back in high school, a janitor had an old Dodge truck like that. Whenever we worked on it in Auto Shop, I got to drive it in and out because I was the only kid that figured out how.

I always got the feeling that they couldn't do much over 45 and were toque-diculous in the first place.

My dads first car was a '48 willys. He always says it couldnt go 50 down hill with a tail wind but could climb a brick wall.

toystory, you were the only one that could drive a column shifter? I got the transmission hooked up this weekend and it took me 2 minutes to figure out the gears.

Cam, Its just like a floor shifter but turned sideways. Toward you and up is reverse, down 1st, away & up 2nd, down 3rd. Real simple and it keeps your hands closer to the wheel. Shift linkages can be a PITA to hook up though.
