when I was young and arrogant, and had a lot of energy I built a 23 t bucket roadster, , 1955 porsche speedster replica, harley show chopper,
64 el camino, restore, custom 1954 ford f100 pick me up, and a bunch of other stuff. fact is, i liked fabbing and building more than driving. So, I built a lot of things that I sold. I figure I've had plenty of opps to build exactly what I wanted.....now We just take it easier !

Hey Flash, sprockets are much cheaper than tires. If you haven't already purchased smaller tires or don't have them laying around mess with the sprockets first. One of my karts has 20" tires 10 x 60 gearing and a 30 series torque converter and seems to have plenty of power, but I always load the karts onto the trailer by hand. If it accelerates strong and climbs hills OK you might just be there. I live in Oceanside California and last night drove by a
Shell station, $ 6.55 and 9/10. Gotta love the 9/10. By the way I'm another one of those kids still playing with toy cars. I'll turn 74 in about 40 days. Congratulations on being married for 54 years. My wife and I will celebrate our
50th latter on this summer. As long as I make sure she knows the parts are for the GRANDKIDS karts I get cut a lot of slack about the money.

Thanks guys....takes a few posts to get to the meat of it.....1st step..... go to 18 x 9.550 x 8 tires......2nd step reduce drive gear to 9 tooth.
I'll let you know the results

You should do fine. I run an old Yerf Dog frame with a Tilly 212 (wouldn't think it'd be a huge huge difference verses for the predator 212). And I also use 20x10-8 mud tires on the rear with a 9 tooth on the jackshaft and a 60 tooth on the axle. The 30 series TC does get hot after a long while but it hasn't failed with a tight good belt. More power to begin with is always better but it could work. PS: Tillotson 212's are better than Predators as far as coming stock with larger valves, metal flywheels, and I personally think and overall better built motor but that's just me being bias lmao

Lots of CA influences going on there. Was really just a 1 year and 3 days "visit" for me, alone at 19-20 years old, but I should toss in that I lived in Sacto for that '77-'78, Rancho Cordova to be specific, on Folsom Blvd. about 5 miles from Folsom prison, East of Mather AFB SAC base.
Y'all remember the East Area Rapist from back then? Started out as The Vidalia Ransacker, became the E.A.R., then became the Golden State Killer, just caught a couple of years ago, ex-cop Joseph Deangelo?
I was arrested as that guy (witness sketch, still have a copy on my fridge today) by a pair of EAR Task Force detectives right when he was doing his raping in Rancho Cordova around my neighborhood.
I wasn't a life resident like y'all, but as you can see, have a real strong tie-in with CA because of that mess, and more.............???? I hear Brian Wilson singing in my mind right now................

That RBG video of the 459cc is impressive, a 33% increase in torque over the 420cc for only a 9% increase in cc's. Who cares about horsies with those torquies?
Reminiscent of the 224cc over the 212cc that has a 26% increase in torque over the 212cc for only a 5.7% increase in cc's. That's all some good stuff, but there's a downside for the doom-and-gloom crowd like myself.
If a new bore/stroke/cc setup hasn't had the aftermarket catch up yet, your fun hotting up one of those is held back if common sense is applied. If a billet flywheel isn't available yet when the governor comes out of it, I ain't coming within 100' of your overrevved engine, and if your rod's still stock in same sitch, I ain't sponsoring your team.

I think your kart has a dover power 265 cam? They suggest 7500rpm limit for the genuine honda cast aluminum flywheel ,
I have one installed on my 224cc predator.

Much more affordable than the billet, and extra security + throttle response with your standard stage 1 mods.

It usually takes a few months for the aftermarket mods to get going. At this rate with higher raw material costs, I give it a year. Remember these just came out and a few key differences exist so it takes time. The 459 flywheel taper is pretty different, exhaust flange is different. Honestly with it having a pressure lube system, I'd leave it stock with ratio rockers, jetted carb, free flowing exhaust, billet con rod (better lubrication for the crank journal). Just a mild build with stock governed speed.

Okay, color me shocked. I've been dealing with Jerry at diyperformance1 on ebay for years now, and never knew about his doverpoweronlinestore.
When he says 7,500 rpm for that Honda style aluminum flywheel, you can depend on it. He's the best and the most honest 4-cycle hotrodding person I know of, lives up in N. Carolina.
My favorite quote from him is..........."There are people out there building time bombs. I won't sell you anything that isn't going to be right for you."
