Semi handy looking to amaze my 10yo

Hello,

I picked up a beautiful dingo with a 5 hp Subaru and I’m looking to get this kart up and running. I’ve had it for a week and I’m realizing I need to clean this carburetor. Is there any information on how to do this for Subaru e13 engines? I’ve looked online and I guess these engines aren’t very popular. I’m thinking about taking it to the local mower guy because I don’t have any experience. For the same cost I could probably install a predator but I’d hate to do that. If anyone could help me out I’d really appreciate it.

Hello and welcome! The reason the Subaru engines aren’t popular is the astronomical parts prices. Cleaning carbs isn’t that hard, look up a YouTube video of any generic lawnmower.

That kart is in really good shape
...& mostly complete

As far as I know, those were good engines (if maintained)
...so, IMO if you can't get 'er cleaned out
...take 'er to a shop & have it done

It'll be worth it
...& your kid will love it

I’ve had really good luck with Subaru/Robin engines. If it hasn’t been abused it will serve you well.

I can’t believe it but I cleaned that carb and it’s running. I want to thank everyone for the motivation need to order helmets so we can get riding videos to follow. It was surprisingly easy. I took it all apart, poked it all out with tiny brushes and it started after 3 pulls. I don’t know what to say. Videos to follow!!! Yeah Subaru E17.

See what a little confidence can do. Great job dad. Now you really have Amazed him. You fixed it. Heck with the blue tooth. BUY yourself a mini bike.
That way if he does get into a situation, you are right there with him. That's what I did with a whole group of Grandkids. It has worked out well. BTW, your wife will probably be happier if you are right there close by.

To ensure a thorough cleaning I soak the carb in Chem-Dip for 24hrs, poke all holes with a guitar string ( stiff enough but flexible ) and use compress air to blow them out. Do not soak the diaphragms, O rings, gaskets or plastic parts.
