Newbie here and have noticed the most common thread seems to be id this frame.

Hate too throw yet another out here but I'm stumped with this one.

I snagged this roller off cl.
It came with a 5 hp Briggs industrial
That runs awesome but I'm thinking on useing the old briggs 8 hp that's sitting in it.

I bought a old tiller from a auction for $1.50 just for the this motor the whole tiller looked like it was used a few times then stored poorly.
Poking around there's no wear at all on this motor but the carb gaskets are dry...no biggy

The clutch was from another project but figured it would work better on this.
I need bearings, a rear sprocket and I gotta sort out some cables for it yet.

Anyway any idea on this cart frame?
As I can't find a single number or letter on it besides the tires.
It's completely ark welded.

Every nut, bolt, joint is cotter pinned.
At first sight it tells me homemade. But I'm not sure if it's a really old kit or something.

Appreciate any inside on this. And sorry for yet another I'd this please thread. Good thing I know all my other projects so this would be my only what's this thread.

I have looked and looked and I can't find any kart that looks even close to this one. Those 3 horizontal bars (bumper) are definitely unique. Too unique lol. For that matter, do all 3 look like they are original? Any chance it's some custom work?

I'll keep looking when I have a chance. I just didn't want you to think nobody has tried. I'm sure a few have but came up empty too.

I know what you mean. I've had it for 3 months and and it buggs me that i still cant find any kind Id or info on it or for it.

Besides my interest in these kind of mighty machines seeking info on this thing is the sole reason I joined here.

Seems to be too well engineered to be homemade but its also obvious its very old construction.

As far as the rear bumper it definitely looks to be all done at the time of construction and also painted red.

I bought it from a fella who said it was in the barn when he bought the property and had no info on it either.

It certainly had enough barn dirt on it too not be able to see what color it actually was , must have been sitting in there quite awhile.

And the only thing i see that's been changed is some angle iron pieces for the engine mount.
And those I'm slightly changeing to fit the briggs.
Cause it had 2 sets of motor mount slots in them that didn't fit ANY of the 8 engines I have.

I was hoping to find some kinda info when I pulled the brake apart to clean it up.
But my search came back as its just a standard common drum kit with parts still available.

If anything instead of starting a new thread I'll ask this here.

I have a new 1" bore 4 "3/4 dia. 3 shoe 10 tooth centrifugal clutch I got in a parts deal.
Is this a good clutch to use for this cart?
Most of my experience is with torque converters only.

What's a good tooth count sprocket to get for this cart that will give it good drivability with the 8hp briggs?

Sorry for the long posts, that's how I am.
One more thing how do I get rid of this android tapatalk pop up thing. jeesh is that annoying.

That clutch is a good one...I'm not sure of the brand off hand... But it's kinda semi custom... So pretty rare as far as I have seen...
That is a reduced bore cent clutch... That is they accomondate the large shaft, but have the smallest tooth count, mostly available for the 3/4" clutches...

These type that have bearings, use grease, NOT OIL...
Typically they need the holding bolt to have a grease hole drilled a ways down from the head, with another crosswise so it can be greased from inside...
But not all have that... So inspect and clean/re-grease accordingly.

Thank you for the info.
i had no idea it's a good piece and never gave the bearing in it a thought but yhea all the other clutches I have have bushings...

So perhaps that's why there is a set screw deep inside it that appears not to be used for anything.
maybe it's for a grease zerk?

I could make up a banjo bolt sorta deal for it now that I know.

Dumb question here....is it still important to keep the grease off the shoes?

The clutch internals look like a NORAM star clutch, but the drum looks more like a NORAM GE. Perhaps a hybrid of the two? Who knows.

Not that it helps identify the kart... Just saying.

I do have a "almost" nos 7hp tec I could use on this cart instead of the briggs.

Or any of these others for that matter except these are 3/4" pto's and I would have to use one of the other clutches if this one isn't a good one for this cart.

Few more pics.

And thank yous for any info I get back.
