Hello everyone,

I gonna use an electric motor and not my briggs & stratton. :)
There are many reasons, it makes less sound, it does not stink, ...

So I'm searching a dc motor and compatible battery's.

The sprocket on my axle is a big, I think it's #41.

My budget is 215$. (batteries included as possible)

Could you recommend me a motor??

you would also need a speed controller or else you kart would be either stop or go.
Are you looking for speed or power?

Power... yes but not extremely much.
Yes, sorry, I forgot to say that I need also a speed controller... :)

Google e bike/scooter kits or parts. Anything from 500 W upward should do the job (36 V setup). Sprocket could be changed (they are cheap) if it doesn't suit your motor (ratio). Batteries (new ones) will be hard to fit in your budget , so you try scavenging (old UPS batteries for example, pretty much any deep cycle batteries).
P.S.
Cool looking kart

Try Google. I've just typed "e bike components" and got 10 400 000 results.Or, you can type in "e bike kit". I don't know where you live , so you can pick things that are closer to you (shipping costs are considerable sometime) . I tend to order from Chinese directly for my parts (or group buy , when it's cheaper). Have a look see on the internet, to understand what you need and than try e bay (since you're on limited budget, very often you can find bargain there). You can get a kit from evparts , but I strongly suggest you to do as said.

zabac, He obviously knows that he can just type in 'e whatever' into google and come up with a bajillion results. He was wondering if there are any quality distributers that he should start with instead of guessing at whose good in a list a mile long.

Maybe if you have a website you like going to, share it with him. Telling him 'Try Google' is not giving him a good website

GKB, That is a sweet kart and electric would be kickass! I personally do not know any good websites to look for parts, but good luck with the journey!

I know that I wasn't much of a help ,sorry , but also , I don't want to be responsible for misleading someone (e.g. I like brush less motors with a 100 - 200 Amps controller or , quite opposite, junk yard motors , so I can play with them). I don't know his "taste" in motors , controllers or his budget and there are issues with shipping that nobody can predict (one customer is satisfied the next one is furious - with same manufacturer) . I've just tried to point him to do a bit more research, not because I'm too lazy to put some links , but because I think that that is the right way . I try to help (when I can) and , again , I'm sorry for earlier post (I've ,kind of , shortened it , so it came up a bit of insensitive and cold) and I'll post some links if needed.

ehh, a starter motor is meant for momentary use, it will burn up be loud with continuous use.

Starter motors should be heavily modified to use for this kind of stuff and still it is a worse solution.

Cordless power tools (professional stuff) , or better yet , lawn mowers (battery operated) has all the stuff within them for conversion. Some junk yard digging, Craig list or neighbors/friends garages conceals a lot of electric treasures.

Mabe try to find an old electric scooter or two and use the motors and speed controllers from them. I bet 2 of those motors would give you plenty of torque and speed. I have one thats sitting at my grandmas house. Come to think of it, i need to tear into it and use some of the parts. Heres a website that looks like it has good prices:
