Scrap yard

I called one of our local metal recyclers, and found out they sell metal for $0.25/lb.

I'm assuming they don't really care what exactly it is they sell, as it all gets melted down anyway.

Does anyone know if they allow a cutting torch, etc. to take things apart?

I am not too famimilar with the rules in your scrap yard, but I think a cutting torch might be a bit dangerous out there. You never know something has been leaking gasoline, that could ignite.
Lol, just say'in. Call them again and ask?

The local scrap yard round here has guys out there cutting stuff up... They may not let us bring our own torches, one of the guys there may be able to do it though.

Never hurts to ask.

If i want suspension components from an ATV I don't really want to pay for the whole thing. I guess i could just take the tools to tear the front end apart.

Yeah, a couple wrenchs and whatnot youll have what you need in a short amount of time...

Might even find things like engines out there. Usually as long as it has good compression, it can be fixed up to run again.

Even if it doesn't have compression, it still may be salvagable. A bent valve or worn rings will put an end to compression & they're relatively simple fixes.

Yes, it just makes for a larger chance of a big problem.

True but, for $0.25/lb it won't break the bank & you'd have fun finding out what the problem is
