well the extra tightening did the trick so i don't care if a got a big cut on my hand (well actually its on my finger, my pinkie got jammed between the driver and a nice sharp edge of the mounting plate, finger nail is pretty much done, but its the only major cut i have gotten from this whole project so i'm happy!!!). yea i could buy some lock-tite, but teflon tape does the trick! back to the point, i finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!! unfortunately its dark out side and i'm tired so my parents are insisting i wait till tomorrow to drive. i did add a few more extras, fabbed up a little chain tensioner with bike parts, a bolt, and some flat bar. also bought some rubber grommets to dampen the vibrations, pics anyone??? i will try to get them, and a video up here soon.

once i got my finger jammed in a cooling fin and the magneto on the flywheel. a cast iron flywheel meeting a sharp surface bites hard

ouch! lol. the grommets actually don't do too bad, the kart still vibrates, but it doesn't rattle things loose any more! only thing i don't like is that when you pull the throttle, the engine sorta jerks to one corner, but it all functions good, i also made a few washers to tighten up one of the chains, and of course the other chain has a little chain tensioner i whipped up. oh and yes, the order is, head of bolt, mounting plate, fender washer, big rubber grommet, fender washer, home made washer (mom didn't want to drive to the hardware store), engine block, washer, rubber grommet, washer, lock nut.

p.s. i sure hope i remember correctly and my camera DOES have a video function! i did have a chance for a quick test though, i tapped the throttle, moved 3" before burring itself in the hole after doing a burnout on my gravel drive way!!!!! lol

EDIT: bleeding brakes takes for ever!!!! (at least on your first try, but i have no air bubbles!)

awesome, i probably am going to need to use the grommets when i build mine because my engine jumps up and down so much. i bolted it to a board and when it idles it actually moves, it runs away from me bouncing, hahaha!

i was driving around my neighbor hood and i reached the point furthest away from my house (of course, yup i got to push it back home) and 3 of the set screws and one of the keys from the two jack shaft sprockets came off, any ideas on what caused this? just loose? bought some new set screws and wrapped them in Teflon tape before putting them in and it works great now, just curios if you guys have any ideas on the cause of the problem. after a few tweaks from the chain stretching out this thing runs awesome!

If you have some room on the kart, an emergency kit isn't a bad idea. A hex wrench for you set screws, a piece of key, a chain, an extra TC belt, an adjustable wrench, and maybe a cheapo socket set. Just for emergencies to limp to the garage.

Pics videos anything please!

And a can of goo for the tires. Nothing worse than having to push it home :surrender:.

Thanks

iwas thinking of putting on a tool kit, but then i was told if i did that i would need to put a fiat sticker on it, lol. if i run into any more problems i will, but if i'm just in my neigh bor hood its not bad, my neighbor hood is a big hill, luckilly my house is at the bottom of the hill. i will get pics up as soonas possible, but i may wait on the video untill i have a nice day so my diamond plate can shine in the sun light!:D

p.s. sry but either i spelled everything correctly or spell check is down

EDIT: i will defiantly bring tools if i go any where, there is this one place i would LOVE to drive my kart, but its un-likely :mad2:. you guys should see my helmet, my dad used to drive his Porsche 911 at the track so we have a wicked nice helmet!

Duct tape too. It works as a good way to keep the engine from twisting on my pit bike, and hold my front axle on. Hahaha, a hammer wont hurt too.
