The only other area where I found costs were out of line in the plans were the miscellaneous nuts and bolts. Bushings, cone bushings, little stuff like lock nuts add up real quick. I used all grade 5 bolts and lock nuts every where.

LOL, ...

What was it, ... like $40.00 for the nuts and bolts. Which corner?

2k for kart, welder, chop saw, angle grinder, bench grinder, shipping then kart. kart is more like 1200. im not even old enough to legaly get a job yet so theres no reason for me to get a car. next kart i build will cost me much much less 250 to 400

worked on the kart today! i fully welded the front half of the kart, I'm pretty pleased with my welds, you could prob run-over my frame with an SUV and it would be good (may scratch the paint though, lol). i also got a delivery! i hesitated to open the box because there was nothing about go karts on it (in fact it was a box formerly used for toilet paper, lol). so now I've got my self a set of maxxis ht3 tires (boy do they have some sticky rubber!)

almost finished welding the rear swing arm today, but had to stop at 8:30 to eat, lol. i prob could have finished but for the first time i experienced my welders duty cycle, and it annoys me! I'm hoping to weld almost everything on, and clean the metal for paint by Tuesday, then on wednesday ill bring it over to my local welding shop to use there big machine on the 3/16" and 1/4" wonderment's. i tried taking some pics of my welds (which look pretty good for a 13yr old running flux core on his first project) but my camera just wont cooperate, i hope to have this finished by about next weekend!

edit: i also almost burnt through a pare of gloves, lol will get new ones before wednesday

very nice project! i haven´t seen this type of frame combined with racing slicks before, but that´s what makes this build interesting.

good work !!
