Once it's rolling, tell us how the GTC TC works. They've been taking lots of flak recently (cough Russ). Also, you may want to practice welding on some scrap before you start your kart.

im useing a 12"dia 8"wide racing slick. and yes i have bean welding peices of scrap before i start, thats partly why i havent bean able to start. yea i dont know why but every one seams to be saying that this gtc tc is realy bad but it looks to be of good quality, but ill know for shure when i test it. sry i just noticed ididnt even put up all the pics 3 of the pics i posted ealeir show my parking brake and one of the last ones on he next page is my kill switch which has a key (impulse buy lol) the rest should be pretty obvious. theres also a couple more pics showning how closely im clearing the frame suspension( well at the moment its being represented by a rusty peice of sq tube (2nd page)). also in 2 of the pics im holding a bent peice of metal near the tc that metal represents me to options for placing the side rails that you can see on the kart on spider carts website, soo im just asking wether you guys think its better to make the "side rails" longer or shorter or just mess with one side and keep the other to spec structuraly if it dont matter im gonna shorten um because if i make um longer they may block the recoil(the vside rails arent shown in these pics go to spider carts website for a pic). that peic of 2x8 on the last pic is representng the wheel which i may have to move over a bit for chain alighnment. well sorry about going on but here ya go

Hey, nice start. Wish I had that much clear floor space to work with in the shop. Doing all my welding outside on what so far have been the hottest days of the summer. Nice Lincoln you got there.

and yea i like my little lincoln if you look here it says it can weld past 1/8" with more than 1 pass or maybe pre heating or somethin http://content.lincolnelectric.com/pdfs/products/literature/e7349.pdf

hello, the weather finnaly cooled down a bit and today i was able to do some more work on the kart, unfortunatly the camera died after one pic:mad2:. first off i widend the place that the engine mounts to so ill have more wiggle room for the tc and engine fitting into the frame(pics 2 & 3 show the clearance i woul have had with original plan specs). i also decided i needed a jack shaft because i couldent move the tc over enough so that the chain wouldent rub against the rear tire so now the chain will , (pic 5 has a pice of wood representing tire)be to the right of the tire insted of the left as it is in the plans(pic 4 is whare jack shaft will go). the main work i did today was finished fab on both of the side rails(only one shown) as i call them (pic #1) these and most of the other peices ive made sofar except for 2 of them had to be either changed from the original or compltely made customly to accomadate the tc. i also found out that the hf chop saw i had can cut about 60 degree angles if rigged properly, and that cut off wheels for grinders explode alot easly:oops:,lol. any way, hopefully ill be starting on the front of the kart tomarrow. if any one is intereted please comment!

CHEAP cut off wheels explode easily. Especially when angled at all like grinding wheels. They are very tempermental, not to mention painful/dangerous lol. Do you really need a jack shaft with the built in sprocket on your TC?

Nice start r97. I'm still trying to upload some picture of my finished three wheeler but can't. I've posted a very shot simple vid on youtube (youtube: DIY Go-kart reverse trike, and its the first one, blue back end frame) not really to show you the speed or the handling but more as a replacement to pictures. Have a look and I'll then post a proper video showing acceleration, top speed ect... It'll hit about 45mph tops and accelerates great.

yea the cutoff wheels don't hurt too bad, lol. and yes o need the jack shaft unless i make the frame 8" wider, its really tough to see there but the chain coming from the tc is going to rub against the tire if i keep the ire in center, now moving the tire over an inch doesn't sound like a big deal right, well ill put this into perspective, suppose the tire was pushed all the way over to one side of the kart, how would that handle? so further from center the more off balance the kart becomes, so now i'm gonna add a jack shaft in
(sort of ridiculous i know ill be describing my drive system " from this expanding pulley on the engine to this expanding pulley on a jack shaft to a sprocket on the jack-shaft to another jack-shaft then the movement is moved over to the right side of the tire and onto the sprocket on the live axle" sort of complicated) but any way it will allow me to have the best performance, the best look, the biggest tire, and the ability to confuse people while i explain my "simple" drive system, lol. im gonna have my kart geared for 46 mph with gov on and will easily spin the tires and will have no trouble going up hills, if i wish i can prob get to about 70 mph and still have acceleration of an average kart without even removing the gov! yea its a little crazy

If yours is geared to 46mph and I recon I can get 45+/- it should be a close race, lol. I'll carry a satnav in my pocket and take a top speed some time soon. The only F1 type feature is the steering wheel, but yeh you think alike with the whole F1 type idea. Good luck, looking forward to seeing it soon.

redsox, i tried that but there is so little clearance between the tc and the "side ralis" that it wouldent have worked for me to move it over, and danjwant you better look out cause my karts low range right now is 10.72 to one on 12" wheels i can easly turn that into speed, plus i havent even taken off the gov, but anyway i highly doubt were going to race or that my mom will let me go past 45 lol. anyway i worked on the kart today got the bottem part of the front frame cut out! hopefully i should have all the peices cut out by thurs!

Only joking about the race. Besides if the police catch you or anyone on the roads, they'll take it away so racing on the roads is a bad idea anyway.
