Of all the possible ammo can ideas I've had, I never thought of a fuel tank! Do you have it lined with anything, or is it literally just a fitting installed in the can and nothing else?

The turning radius kind of sucks... but the plan is to just spin the rear and swing it around if need be. lol
The pitman does push the tie rod all the way and is just on the verge of overturning. I'll see how it works on the first drive and it'll be pretty easy to tell if it needs to be changed! Thanks for the help!
Right now that's all it is. I haven't decided what all I'm going to do with it. It definitely will have a baffle inside. I don't see it needing any sort of liner as I've tested it with water and it's TIGHT! It didn't lose any water at all turned upside-down and sideways and with it full over a few days. I closed it inside the house and opened the shut off valve a day or two later... I don't know how to describe it but it made a loud "pssst" sound. That tells me as well that it's well sealed! I'll definitely need to get a vent in it! I just used a bulkhead fitting with a good o-ring on each side that can handle gasoline. Seems to work great!
I'm not sure if I should strip the paint inside and coat it with something or just put an extra fuel filter on it and hope for the best... lol.
I haven't mounted it yet... but I made a carb spacer out of high density polyethelyne and threaded a 1/8" NPT/1/4" barb into it to run the vacuum pulse fuel pump. It seemed to work when I test ran the motor tonight so I'll make a bracket for it and see what happens!

looks like a fun toy, pretty good work too! just might wanna clean up some of the welds , some of them look questionable but otherwise a really cool build

I finally have some more progress!
My soft shock/spring issues are now a thing of the past. I got a pair off a 650 Yamaha that seem to do the trick! I picked up a K&N filter as well for $5, just need to oil it. Also, my shifter is complete! I used the splined section of the trike's chain tensioner as it wouldn't work for how I'm going to do my tensioner. I welded it onto the end of the shaft so everything is removable. The shifter handle is a screwdriver handle my brother-in-law made for me a few years back when he was in high school. It looks to be at an awkward angle, but it works great. It matches the contours of the front frame section perfectly... and surprisingly it doesn't move all that much when the suspension cycles.

More progress this afternoon!
I pretty much finished up my to-do list.
I finally got around to using my plasma cutter again and I made a bracket for the coil and a plate for the CDI box and fuel pump to mount to.
Next up was the throttle linkage. It was tough to figure out a way to connect the cable to a rod to run to the pedal, but I'm happy with how it turned out. I can tighten the nut on the spring to act as sort of a governor/rev limited as it limits the travel of the cable when tightened.
All the wiring was shortened and for now it's sort of tidy. I'll clean it up better later after everything is painted. The yellow wire isn't used at the moment but may be later as it is a power wire for a headlight.
Here you can see the plate I made between the carb and engine to pull vacuum. I made a couple gaskets for it as well. I also got my filter oiled up!
Next up was my chain and tensioner made out of some sort of lawnmower spring and an old skateboard wheel. It works great!
The kill switch is mounted but I forgot to take a pic! It's right beside the steering shaft where the top bearing is. I'm going to go without a fuel tank baffle for now... I can always add one later. All I need is to mount the choke cable as I've already got a shorter one and extend the exhaust a few inches so excess oil doesn't drip onto my brakes! If all goes well and if I find time the maiden voyage just may be tomorrow night!!

I'm not trying to be an argumentative a$$ here at all, but I've honestly never understood the allure of having a reverse trike over a similarly built 4-wheeled kart.
Did you just want to build something a bit different, or was your choice to build a reverse trike mainly just to reduce traction for improved drifting purposes?
Cause if it was just to reduce traction for better drifting, It seems to me like simply using narrower/hard/slick tires would achieve the same goal, and also offer the advantage of being way-more stable and the kart not rolling over as easily...

I need to change up the rear sprocket though. Gears 1 to 3 are fine but 4 and 5 it starts to bog down. I'll have a couple vids up here very shortly. The first it just quit on me, the second I couldn't really get into it as it was pretty rough. I actually got a little rubber out of it in the third and fourth I was just screwing around with it. Top speed so far is 60km/h but that's just to the top of third gear.

I thought I'd update for you guys... been busy with my first house since I built this so there hasn't been much time for surfing around these sites!
Everything is still working great, surprisingly no issues! The ammo can fuel tank doesn't leak - it can take fuel no problem. I "fixed" the fuel problem without adding a battery and different pump... it runs fine through all the gears if I keep the choke 1/2 open.
I've hit about 90km/h with it, used it to drive home from work and even to my buddy's place for a 50km round trip!
It's a blast to drive but can get just a little sketchy if you're not careful. Overall, I'm very happy with it.
