I just scored a really nice kart from a guy in San Antonio for $120. It just needed the gas pedal cable replaced, very easy fix. It needs some cleaning, but so little to do. My kids will enjoy this over the Easter Holidays. Laters.

OKAY, now after looking at the pics very closely I see what it looks like, my bad. I used to have a manco just like that! Good Price! When you want to beef it up for yourself or your kids, get a 6.5hp motor on thier! That thing looks like tons of fun!

Dude, its a full cage. This one has the full cage in tact, and I will note that Manco karts never had a half cage from factory, Thunderkarts did at time but thats it. Ah, for a time when royal blue S-600 Thunderkarts cost 700 dollars new and had 13x5.00-6 tires rear and 4.10x3.50-4 tires front, those karts are so pretty restored.

Here is one I painted black and green a few years ago.

Here is another that I painted red and black, you notice the half cage?

Not trying to sell anything or pimp my site here, just thought you'd see the diff.

Back to his kart, cant wait to see pictures of it up and running out of the van/suv.

Screw Kenny!

Okay Kenny... when I get to the shop today I'm going to go look through the dealers brochures from the 80's for Manco. If i'm wrong I owe you a nickel.

Edit, Kenny was right.

Kenny, Update. Older Manco Dingos did have a half cage, newer ones did have bars leading forward. Solomon, your kart had a full cage. Another notable kart from that era not to have a cage was a Byrd Baja. The Baja was an awesome design on a kart, it had a differential and dual brakes located on the steering wheel so you could brake one side of the axle or the the other for crazy quick turning.

I now owe Kenny a nickel, kudos. Now you can go buy a moon-pie.

Thanks for all the compliments guys. By the way, the cart is in my '94 Bronco not a van. Hahaha. The kart does have a full cage, it wouldn't fit in my BRONCO with it on. The model # on the kart is 103-10A. I can't seem to find it anywhere though? I cleaned the carb(full of gunked gas) and fixed the throttle cable. It all took a few hours on Saturday and ran it late in the afternoon. With the little 3.5hp pushing it, it was a blast. My kiddos, 9 and 12 didn't want to get off even after we ran out of gas. This is our first kart ever and I have a few questions. Would converting it to "live axle" improve the performance or decrease it? It is also somewhat stubborn to start, but once it's on it stays on. What can I do to improve starts? Thanks and hope you and your families have a wonderful Easter.

Live axle would hurt your turning ability a little, but improve traction, and open up a new world of tires, brakes, sprockets, etc.

Hard starting could be a few things, is it one of those primer bulb carbs, or does it have a choke? if its the primer make sure to give it a few good pumps. Clean the carb again, and run a small piece of wire through each jet to make sure they arent clogged. Lastly, changing the plug wouldnt hurt. Make sure the air filter is clean also.

Kaptain, thanks for the insight. The carb has a choke. What would this cart cost new? Where can I find info on it? Model # 103-10A is what's stamped on the metal tag near the seat. Is this an older model of a Dingo? Thanks for all the info. guys. :wai:

Not related to a Dingo, the kart has no step down near the seat and it does not gently incline towards the front. Its a newer styled Manco one seater, it was before they switched to Subaru Robins engines so that places it in the 90's. Good find.

Carb troubles, its a smaller choke styled carb, if you've cleaned it once and can get it to run that means it has some debris left in the carb from the old age and time it had set up, lucky for you gasoline itself is a solvent, the more you run the kart the better it will get, if you want you can put a cap full of carb/injector cleaner into a full take and run it with that, I've found that sometimes cleans things out. While we can clean the jets and the carb as a whole, there are check balls in these carburetors that are impossible to get to and just need to be ran to clean them out. Do not add much of the cleaner mind you, just a small amount, I use a cap full and thats it.

As far as live axle goes, if you ride it on concrete you want to stay with one wheel drive, your turning radius will be severely hurt once you switch. If you ride off road often, it may be something you want to look into, but keep in mind, if you have 2 children this is just one kart, do you really want to drop over 200 dollars switching axle, tires, wheels, brakes, sprocket, etc for one kart? On that note its a short kart, that also may mean you dont want to spend more on it, this is a great kart for the age group they are in but might want bigger in the long run.

This is your owners manual -
http://www.tricountysupply.com/pdfs/IPLs-103-103_9290R3.pdf

Its an entry level kart, does your happen to be equipped with the gear reduction unit?

WoW! You guys are sooo full of it, info that is. Hehehehe. So glad I stumbled upon this forum. One thing I did notice when cleaning the carb was the screw that holds the bowl had some black rubber inside it that was completely dissolved. I believe it was part of the needle at one time, but dissolved with time. That might be one of the issues associated with the difficult starts. Thanks again for all your insight guys.
