Hello, I am having to build an off-road suspension go-kart for a college class project. I am required to complete CAD drawings of the different go kart parts that I order.

I am having a hard time finding part-ordering go kart websites with sufficient details/technical drawings of the parts. For instance, it makes it very difficult for me to see how the seat will be mounted and the parts needed to do that.

Does anybody have any suggestions or websites for go kart parts that have technical drawings or CAD drawings?

Also, do you suggest any websites for understanding go karts and the parts needed to build them?

Thanks

Generally speaking, we direct new members to cruise this forum, (either manually or using the search feature) to help gain an understanding of the parts and issues involved in kart building. You should be able to find plenty of inspiration and ideas here.

As for technical drawings, no- not that I personally am aware of. But stick around- somebody else might have a tip or two for you. Welcome to the forum.

Hello and welcome.

First, are you going to actually build this or is it just a drawing of the completed item?

I dont think you will find may if not any parts typically in a CAD format, for the most part there isnt any.
If you are going to build a gokart with you drawing, make what you want, and note the actual part may be slightly different.
Drawings for cars are a good example of this, the factory drawings that is, unless it is a super high end. Most parts for todays cars are meant to be replaced, so to account for each and every different exacting part is extremely difficult. equally speaking, for ex. an alternator is made to a certain physical and technical peramiters. but the actual case may have another screw stud for another ground. still is good but may not be needed or spec'ed originally.

So, if you can, use pics of the parts in question. see if you can scale the pics using a known dimension, and extrapolate from there. You might get an approximation of your intended vehicle.

Most parts on a go kart can be drawn in CAD in just a few minutes,
so you should just go on and try.

There will be some parts, that are hard to replicate digitally, the engine for example.
So, you can either make a box model and call it a day or you can ask your teacher if you are allowed to use premade 3d files (someone made that engine already ;))

And if you're still having problems, 3d scan it!
Oh, you don't have a 3d Scanner?
