here is a little pic,
PS1= push button 1
PS2= push button 2
PSA= push button A
PSB= push button B
FF= forward fast
FS= forward slow
RS= reverse slow
RF= reverse fast
the double pole double throw switch's is like this,
http://www.distel.co.uk/DC_MOT_CON1.htm

each solenoid is a double pole solenoid, so each solenoid can carry both positive and negative current, which allow for reverse.

if any one can simplify my idea, or point out a problem, that would be great!

i have a version W/ wires, and one w/ wires because it is very messy. if no one can understand it, i will change some of the wires colors around.

Maybe a cooler kart? I made mine just with a ladder frame, and an electric scooter that I took the guts out of. It's super easy and you get get scooters of CL for nothing. Most of them have dead batteries, but once you replace those, is smooth running.

I was going to post the link to my cooler kart, but it got lost in the December meltdown, so here are some pics.

thats a good idea, i should definitely keep it as an option(can see myself riding it too the beach. i wan't to see if i can make this recliner chair idea work for a decent price. here is the newest revision of the wiring diagram! i'll see if i can explain it for you guys. once i'm happy that i have a working wiring system i will decide between the many options, maybe i will setup a poll.

EDIT: i'm thinking if i did the cooler, all batteries, the motor, and axle, will be inside the cooler, just handle bars, pegs, and wheels sticking out, also, maybe a second cooler as a trailer (maybe with refrigeration unit:D(not joking)) which could hold drinks, and possibly haul friends around? lol, i'm getting more enthusiastic by the minute, its cheap, doesn't take up too much space, and i would actually use it. anyone interested in a description of the wiring diagram tell me which part is confusing and i will gladly fill you in :thumbsup:
EDIT2: wow, this is almost exactly what i was thinking!

Ha ha devino.
The only reasons why I put the stuff on the outside was:
-have a frame to weld to
-removable, functioning cooler
-didn't wanna cut up ma' cooler bro!!
-you can put other stuff where the cooler was, like a cardboard box, beer crate, toilet etc.

Mostly the first one cause it's tough to just screw stuff to plastic, it's unstable, weak, then just figuring out how everything would fit inside it, bearings, sprocket, chain. Then you could also have problems with the motor touching the plastic and then the motor gets hot and melts the plastic. Just my 2 cents.

this sounds awsome
u have to make it and post regular updates

on the SLA batterys. we have 1 in our toyota ute and when i rolled it the other week the battery can out fine, it still has full power and no acid leaked out even with it straped in upside down for 45 minutes

for the second video i posted above, i have made a wiring diagram. only thing i'm concerned about is switching from forward to reverse too fast, is this a problem? also, any ideas on how to make the controls more like driving a skid-steer? all i can find is this, but i don't think it can handle the power, can it?
http://www.electronickits.com/kit/complete/motor/k166.htm

or should i try hooking up two potentiometers to one lever?

this is a whole knew playing field for me so any help on the electronics is welcome, :thumbsup:

p.s. should i maybe start a thread in the electric section?

:mad2: i forgot to put in the wiring diagram. so what do you guy think? i might try going over to a battle bot forum, i'm sure this is a common setup for them.

EDIT: just realized i'm gonna need another switch on the lever w/ the cam so that it will move forward.

EDIT: just went over too a battle bot forum, didn't find what i wanted. i'm considering just dumping the whole turn on a dime idea, it would be really cool, but i don't think i have the skills. i think i will just setup two twist grip throttles for each motor, and maybe convert to skid steer steering later. hows that sound? (no comments today?)

here is the newest plan. make one of these,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRs4ta7klio

i plan on buying two used electric scooters of craigslist and harvesting the motors, controllers, throttles, brakes, and batteries (if they are any good)

then pair that with a frame similar to the one in the vid, except with a 5 point seat belt.

i will also make wheels out of round tube put through a ring roller with cut bike tires attached to the outside. then i will setup the drive system like the bigger version of what i am making (first vid) just to simplify the ratios, plus i will already have a free wheel w/ appropriate sized sprocket from the scooters.

the controls will consist of two levers, one on each side, each lever is attached to the scooter throttle so as you push the throttle forward you go faster. attached to these levers will be brake levers to control each wheel, these brakes will have a mechanism to lock them while the throttle is being applied. on the very end of the levers will be a button that when pressed puts that motor into reverse.

only questions i have are:

1. can i run 2 24v batteries off one 24v battery supply? or is it best for each motor to have its own 24v battery supply?

2. can i use SLA batteries (Sealed Lead Acid batteries) or is it possible that they could leak while inverted? (i know they are sealed, but i don't know if they are completely sealed)

some feedback would be much appreciated, thanks!

p.s. could this be the first electric DI-wheel build on the forum? :D

How about one of those mono-tread bikes things where a snowmobile style tread goes thru the frame and is driven by a motor inside the frame too?

EDIT: ONE OF THESE. If one of those doesn't get you a win in the competition F*** THEM and go offroading to blow off some steam on your @$$ kicking bike.

lol, yea. i'm thinking i will find a local shop, and have them run some 2" round tube through a ring roller, then i will cut some bike tires, and rivet them on, or something like that. gonna be tough to learn how to ride :roflol:

Neither of those seem feasible with a time frame as a single person given a 1 month span man. Choose a smaller but cooler project, like a cooler.

well i have got from today, to i think march 16th, and i have class time to work on the presentation. that definitely makes me go for the mono wheel.

p.s. most old biggs 5hp engines have a 3/4" shaft right?
