That's nuts! I've never heard of that. Around here, anyway, you have to live more than 3.2 kilometres (2 miles) from the school to qualify for the bussing. Which I think is reasonable. No reason an able-bodied teen can't walk 2 miles in all but the worst weather.

Find out exactly how many miles it is for you, and start pestering your mayor, and whoever the equivalent of your MP is. I can't think of the title- he (she) will hold office specifically in your town, borough, municipality, whatever. Anyway- I just can't see that holding water...

One of my teachers said that schools dont haft to supply busing.

Thats your source?? A word of advice: Dont take everything teachers say as 100% true. My bio teacher is the least correct know-it-all ive ever seen.

No- I meant political office- Member of Parliament, city councillor... I just CANNOT think of the "american" title.:mad2:

Head of city: Mayor
Head of individual state: Governor

Then of course you have state congressmen & women who meet 2 whole times a year to make decisions. Best bet would be to call/write your districts senator.

Hmm. Around here, we have regional Mayors- like the Mayor of the city of Toronto is Rob Ford. But in the individual districts that make up the municipalities, there are MP's (Members of Parliament). Have you no equivalent? Who do you call when you have a "local" problem- only the mayor's office?
EDIT- Senator? Maybe that's it?

Ok, maybe its just me, but getting to school is just a tad more important than d@mn sports! What I really cant figure out is why they're firing the good teachers and keeping the $h!tty ones.

=EDIT- Senator? Maybe that's it?

Yep. State senators represent districts.

I was thinking the same thing, but I cant back it up. I think I read it somewhere, though.

I cant drive a mini bike down the road............. There is a cop at the school, and they dont have mini bike parking or not even bike parking, just cars.

Chain it to the bike rack? It'd probably be better to do that anyways just so someone can't just throw it in the back of their truck and drive away.

There's some federal regulation for 'motorized bicycle' or something -- I believe it stated any bicycle with a (768W?) 1 HP or less electric motor had to legally be treated as a bicycle and the states couldn't make any laws to change that.

get a decent mountain bike or if you have nice roads then a lightweight road bike. 10 miles not that far. I used to walk an hour each way to school and save my bus money haha

I agree with Anderkart. I drive a whopping .5 miles to school every day but I make it a point to get there half an hour early. It's quite nice actually. I have plenty of time to do whatever I need to do or even just go sit around and talk for 30 minutes. I have spent many of these mornings in the school's shop making various junk. Recently, I made a drain cover for our garage using this time for about a week and a half.

Just today, I was filling up my car, I saw a guy filling up his...mountain bike?... Yes, he mounted a small tank on the cross bar and had a small 50cc engine on the slanted frame rail. I went and talked to him about it. He set up a sprocket on the side opposite the pedal sprockets so that he could use his own grunt to get it moving and then the motor to propel him at speeds because he was a pretty big guy. He said it was a 6 speed gearbox and was just like riding a dirtbike...with pedals. Too bad I didn't snap a picture. He went putzing down the road at about 30 MPH.
