I understand that the impeller fan and cooling shroud are critical to these engines when they are being used in a fixed or stationary way (e.g. generator or pressure washer).

But if I will be using it on a motorcycle with constant air/wind blowing over the engine and oil radiator, is the impeller and cooling shroud still necessary?

Because of spacing/fitment constraints I need to tuck in about half an inch around the engine. Also, all that plastic is hideous.

The engine will "run" just fine with just the flywheel and not the impeller correct?

:cheers2:

It will run, but like any air cooled engine without forced cooling, it will overheat if you sit in one place too long.

You also may wind up with hot spots on the leeward side of the cylinders, even moving full speed.
