I found this trike on the side of my buddies house , And having been looking for one I bought it , As we were loading it he says " It dont turn".
I didnt think to much about it . I figured he had put a 20 inch bike tire and rim on it thats why It wouldnt turn . Well when i got it home i put forks on it a 20 inch wheel and tire , I got wheel flop , this is with no motor .Steering in a straight line was fine ... but if you were to turn it like 10 degrees to the left it would just flop to the left and same for the right .As i understood thats what wheel flop is . I really didnt stress on this problem knowing im going to put a 26x4 wheel on it . figured this will correct the steering problem . I cut the arms off that hold your feet and reconfigured them all without knowing exactly were the tire would swing . and to make sure i was plenty out of the way of tire , ALL Because the tire hasnt made to the house YET ....

I CAN BE an Impatient man sometimes so as youll see they may look a little whacked.......
As of now i cant find pictures of when i first got the trike , as i unearth them i will post
OK seeing a tire and wheel at flee market bought it installed it and realized had same problem not as bad but some wheel flop ,all this testing the steeering is with no motor mind you ,
So i decided to change the rake on it without knowing nothing about it , being a welder figured it couldn't be that hard .
well the pictures you see here are prior to me changing rake .
I know you are going to ask me size of wheel base ,tire size ,gearing

1. 41 inches wheel base
2 . 69 tooth sprocket on axle
3 . 12 tooth on centfuge clutch
4 .tires are 10 1/2 inches tall 8 wide not sure of exact size

having everything but a throttle still NOt really wanting to turn i change rake ......She seems ok little high in the front i install plastic on tires and test...............she goes ,she turns .....BUT way to easy *** end swings around way to easy .but i ride that day ......
Next day i take off plastic and try and ride she does same thing .........GOES straight no turning at all front tire just plows like if i turrn left it stays left and tire just kinda stutters across ground

So finally the question i have is WTf happened , is this a combonation
of rake being off and maybe wheel base too big ,I 'm not sure ,i could use some input .....The exact degree of rake im not sure because im not sure how to properly measure it .after i tried to fix it ,not gonna lie , I just guessed on it it looked right so i went with it ....outa breath geeezus

I plan to give you more pics as i dig them up so bare with me

Probably because it has a live axle. Two big rubber patches on the ground back there that only want to roll straight ahead.

All the weight is over a fixed live axle, with a skinny little front tire with no weight on it.

Wheel flop has nothing to do with it. There's just too much traction on the back. It needs plastic sleeves on the back wheels so they can break traction and slide.

Hence the term drift trike.

Hence the term drift trike.[/ So this is not rideable without the plastic sleeves ?.I find a 26x 4 far from a skinny front tire...... well thanks guys

That's probably because none of us really knew how to help, or what the problem might be.

It would be nice if you could tell us how you fixed it, because then when someone comes round the next time with a similar problem we can help them out. That's how this forum works. Sharing knowledge with each other to form a larger knowledge base to help people
