This thread brought to you by some members requests.
No vacs we're hurt in the process.

My sis buys these, and when they break, I repair them.
This brand is EUFY.
They are the "dumb" ones i call them. No wifi connection or house mapping. They just run around randomly.

There's only a small parts list.
2 side brushes
Center brush
2 drive wheels
Vacuum motor
Battery pack
Some IR proximity sensors
A couple micro switches on the bump bar.

The motors and battery pack are the most prone to fail as so as I've seen.
Parts are cheap on Amazon and modular.

Plastic gear boxes and entwined brushes dont play well.

Ive also used epoxy putty to fix drive pins on the roller brush.

They aren't deep cleaners but I am always impressed by how much they actually do pick up. The hoppers are always full.

You do have to go around and make sure theres not a shoelace to grab or frilly rugs.

I laugh at them, cause I'll start 3 different ones, in different areas and it seems in a few minutes they are fighting for the same corner.

Super nice!

The smart ones certainly have some scary prices for something gimmicky that I don’t have a lot of faith in, you know? As I understand them, the smart ones do a “duty cycle” then return to their charging base or something like that(?). What do the dumb ones do, run around til the battery is exhausted and stop right there (to become a trip hazard)?

I have often thought of getting one, but the price of them always scares me away

How much do these cheap, dumb ones cost brand new, Whitetrash? What does your sister pay?
Landuse may not want a Predator version, he may want the $ genuine $ Honda. 😁

The base models are about $150.
They go up from there with options like self emptying and wifi and self mapping.
Some even have a wet mop similar to a swiffer or what ever.

I will say for the light dirt and grass and stuff that gets tracked in by me or the pets is where it shines. If a plant drops from a curious cat, it won't pick up that dirt pile.

There also some good videos of one finding fidos doo doo and making a Picasso.

When i convert that $150 into South African Rands it turns into a packet of money that I am just not willing to spend. I have a traditional vacuum that i am more than capable of pushing around :D
