Rim and Spindle Rub

We bought a used Kart over the weekend and I think it's a Yerf Dog 3002. I noticed that the wheels move a little back and forth on the spindle causing the rim to grind against the side of the spindle. Is this a common issue? Wondering if anyone has any thoughts or insight before I start taking the wheels off.

The tie rods were fairly old and adjustment was rough on them so new ones are on the way. Thanks in advance.

I'm sure a LITTLE back and forth isn't out of the ordinary but I think your issue are those front wheels/tires, they look like they're from an atv and just too big and wide for the kart. Wheels spacers could probably help though.

the spindle (the actual axle) usually has a spacer
that prevents the wheel from rubbing against the steeringing linkage.

yours appear to be missing.

you can just buy new spacers to fix that,
cut your own from reasonably sized tube or use a stack of washers as you prefere,
just make sure that whatever you pick is resting against the inner bearing race only,
not the outer nor the shielding of the bearing.

Thanks guys, I'll take the two front wheels off and take a look and see if some washers can help give some space.
