You Tell Me! lol. Worst brake design I ever looked at. I looked at my new Manco and it is a solid rod. So maybe it was just an early design flaw?

Yea i rode brakeless for a little with my shifter, i still like to have brakes though, trying to engine brake from 50+mph is bad for everything...

never rode brakeless... i always use disc brakes setups on my creations... the shopping kart is equipped with a raptor 660 hydraulic caliper... lets just say that 1/4 throught the pedal's travel the rear axle locks up at any speed!

Sometimes... And sometimes it's a he//uva lot of fun to skid yer arse all over the place! My hydro brakes lock up with very little effort, and I do 180's all the time! Loads of fun!

Most of the time I set up a kart for sales the travel on the pedal is very minimal, we want our brakes to be easy to apply and very effective.

The 1wd yerf dog I just picked up locks the 4" band without a problem. I don't know whats up with everybody else karts, but my bands stop fine.

Poor quality bands, worn out rods, and poor designs cause bands to work pathetically. When properly installed with a quality band it will stop a kart, I like bands, they are affordable and really do the job.
