I scored a Baja Doodle Bug yesterday for $20. That's right Twenty Dollars:wai:

Overall it was well worth the 70 minute drive.
The guy said his kids didn't take care of it, took it apart, and just left it all over the place. He just wanted it of the garage.

Things missing and needing:
- Working Engine ( I have my Briggs 5hp... http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/showthread.php?t=25873 )
- Needs a rear tire ( I have one)
- Needs a clutch ( I have one )
- Needs All Bearings replaced
-Needs Chain roller
-Needs brake lever and pads
-Need to fix the bent fenders
- Needs random nuts and bolts and maybe some other stuff I am forgetting right now.

I took it apart tonight

And it is in good structural condition with minor surface rust.
I was intending to modify this into something awesome ( IE: trike, chopper, I might still add a detachable side car one day ), but I think I will just do a restore. I am unsure of color scheme at this time. I do intend to fab up gas tank mount and a battery box for lights. Maybe add a TC one day too.
So......looks like a found a late fall - winter project.

That's one helluva score!!
Thanks Jim. I decided I am not going to buy anything used over $50 anymore (as far as karts and mini bikes).
I can keep getting parts and projects for $50 and under to maybe start turning a small profit selling restorations, parts, or just flipping them for the next project or just to help pays some extra bills.

You know. ....those kind of deals are everywhere. ....the key is patience. ...people decide they want something. ...and then they want it right away. ...they don't look unless they need. .....

I could have gotten a mobile home for free......I have land to put it on....just didn't have the money to move it....:mad2:

And $20 is what I paid for my Manco Red Fox2.....

EDIT: BTW.....I just sold a lawnmower the other day. ....I didn't expect it....so I wasn't ready. ....but I had a nice Briggs 22" push mower. ...restored to look brand new...and I was ready to let it go for $50.....I put gas in it and pulled the cord.....started first pull... (I knew it would. ....)....then I was panicking because there was no oil in it....and it took a second or two to figure out how to shut it off.....so I put oil in it....now. ..ready to go. ...customer is coming back in a few minutes to pick it up. ...everything is good. ...you could shave with the blade on this thing. ...

So I pull the cord. ... (just to make sure the motor is still good).....and the recoil completely blows. ...I take it apart. ..there's no fixing it....

So the guy shows back up...I tell him the story....I show him a 5hp self propelled Honda....I tell him that the carb is a little bit clogged. ...if he can get it running. ..he can mow his yard for free....and bring it back. ...or keep it and give me $40.....

So after a while. ...he brings it back. ...he can't do anything with it.....so I get out the mineral spirits and carb cleaner. ...and start pulling. ...at first. ..I could barely get a sputter....but pretty soon... it's running good and starting on the first pull.....I go leave a note on this guys door and 30 mins. later it's gone...and I have $50.....now this was a $400 mower (new)....but the other way to look at is this....I picked it up off the curb....I had about $5 worth of gas and mineral spirits and 15mins. of time in it.....so $45 in hand beats whatever $$$ you can speculate. ....

Put some work in today on the Doodle since the Murray still needs front rims.
Decided I will just reuse the stock Doodle gas tank even though it is small. I mocked it up on the other doodle and it fits fine without any interference from parts or person. I went ahead and made a mount for the tank like so......

I have decided I will add a sissy bar.
A devil's tail sissy bar.
Here is just a quick mock up of the tail piece.
I plan on using 3/4" round tube for the bar and adding this 1/4 stock with the tail attached. I will refine the tail to look cooler of course.

5 hp Briggs on that mini bike is perfect!!!! is that a Harley coming my way? no just a little mini bike that sounds ridiculous. Straight pipe Briggs Flatheads under load/low rpm almost sound like painful farts... no way else to explain it....

The deep rumble...... Lol.
I wanted to score an oversize mini bikes with shocks for the briggs, but couldn't pass this up.
I think I will purchase the adapter plate from hot rod mini bike. That way I can use any engine.
