Nice catch on the grounded flywheel. Just sanding the magnets and setting the gap by itself would probably be enough.

What else? It can't be the flywheel key can it? It doesn't spark at all.

I would guess then that the ignition coil is toast. It should give a spark even if the timing is off.

look up the resistance values for your coil and use a multimeter to test it, that will give you a definite answer, aye?
